Replace back up camer and monitor?

Looking to replace my original Intec backup camera and monitor (both now working). Want a 7" indash style with a color camera. Anybody done this to their RV?

Rear View Safety has a nice one for around $300.00, think you can get it at Costco's online site for a discount.

I like slarsen's solution. I also have my monitor in the inside rear view mirror position, but it doubles as a mirror and is shaped like one. I got it from one of the Amazon stores & it has two video inputs so I can switch from the camera that is aimed at my 5th wheel hitch to the rear view camera by pushing a button.

I bought six waterproof, 12v wide angle video cameras from Amazon and mounted 2 of them in my truck. (The other four are used as security cameras to feed my household security DVR and alarm system...all 12v & solar charged.) Both of my truck cameras are wired with disconnect plugs in the vicinity of the trailer plug.

I found out about the dual video mirror gadget from a guy that had front & back cameras on his motor home. His front camera looked down at his front bumper from the top of the rig so he could see how close he was getting to things with the front bumper.

If you are looking to replace the whole system, check out farm implement dealers for the wireless video systems they use to monitor their seed planters, etc. They seem to be a bit cheaper than RV setups and you know they have to be rugged if they are intended to be mounted on a corn planter!

as I was saying, I opted for putting my display on my rear view mirror, since it occurred to me that I was accustomed to looking there for the rear view, anyway, and the mirror is useless when towing. I put it there with stretchy velcro straps. On or off, 30 seconds. Took me awhile to come up with this, and I think it is the perfect solution as it drops into the console when I'm not towing. Plugs into a cigarette lighter type thingie directly below the display unit in the dash.

Camera: I use a wireless unit that I bought on Amazon. I wired it up to the front of the trailer (5th wheel) and the antenna is therefore sitting in a waterproof electrical box, sitting on the pinbox. So inasmuch as it is physically only a few feet from the display, and line-of-sight, it works perfectly with a clear, sharp picture that hardly ever flickers. I used shielded cable for wiring, cable-tied along the underside of the trailer. It's been there for almost three years, no problems.
