15 inch tires

I am looking for new tires for are 5ver, have had blow out problems. We run TPMS and have had axles checked with laser allinment, keep pressures checked often,stored on blocks to keep weight off suspension. Calls for D rated tires and had blow outs, moved up to E rated and had blow outs, 8 blown tires in last 6 years. Any recomendations for a good brand of 225-75-R15. Any suggestions

I switched to 16 inch lt's and when it's time to retire they will be going back to Maxxis ST. the lt ride is much stiffer and harsh. When backing up hard corners I see a lot of rubber being scuffed off where as the st tires just kinda turned. I think (my opinion) that turning is hard on spindles and bearings. Also the st's give a higher load carring capacity than lt's of the same size. Roger Marple aka tireman said changes are being made in ST tires and speed limits are among them. Maybe into the 80's mph.how many people exceed the 65mph on their st's and then blame the tire because they overspeded it?

I have had 6 blow outs over the 14 years of owning our 5th wheel with 15" tires. Changed to 16" plus added shocks and run at 75 to 80 lbs pressure. No problems in a couple years now. I was told there are so much more quality tire selections with 16" than 15" tires.

For us the swap to 16" LT's was the answer. Had no more tire problems on that trailer. This one had the ST tires taken off the week after bringing it home. It's not cheap, but neither are blown tires.

As others have pointed out, there may be a bigger issue here.

Weigh your trailer - fully loaded including water tanks. Weigh each wheel position if you can. If you don't you need to account for side to side and front to rear variation.

I recommend that any tire be loaded to no more than 85% of its rated capacity.

Could also be an axle alignment issue.

Maxxis is probably the top 15" ST tire, with the Carlisle RH next. I have the Carlisles simply because I couldn't get the Maxxis in time to leave for a trip (the next day!). Just make sure they're no older than 6 months. If you have the cash, and your wheel spacing will allow it, 16" wheels/tires are the way to go, with a good set of LTs, like the aforementioned Michelin Ribs or Duravis R250s.

Yep, I recommend upgrading to 16 inch wheels if you have room and adding XPS Ribs by Michelin or Bridgestone Durvis
