I would like help or explanation on the weights for towing.

Are we within our limits?

I just pulled my 41' Grand Design Fiver 367MBHS just over 500 miles a couple of weekends ago for Thanksgiving. I pulled it with my 2017 RAM 2500 4x4 Long Bed. No issues. I full time it, which makes these type of trips frequent and fun.

Whats the dry pin weight on the Solitude. Most are in the 2500+ lb range. You'll be at 3000= lbs on the rear axle. Thats the max for your RAWR right now. You'll need to upgrade the tires and if needed the rims too.
JMO but depending on which Solitude you're looking at, some are too much 5er for that 2500.

You should be ok. Check your tire and wheel ratings to be sure. I towed 2016 Solitude 20,000 miles with a 2006 Dodge 2500. Added a leaf in the rear spring pack, and updated the tires, good to go. Currently have 2017 RAM 2500, I will have to change tires when I hit the road, byt everything else is ok. Good luck.

GVWR on "250/2500" series trucks is usually derated to keep people out of needing CDLs or commercial insurance. Payload has to be derated as well to make the GVWR number right. Your axles and tires tell the real story.

Old-Biscuit is right on, and gives a good example, using his own rig. Stay under RAWR/tire ratings, and it will work for you.

DRY Weight...........NOPE
GVWR.................YEP

But I suspect that weight is DRY Weight as Solitudes have GVWR of 15K to 20K
SO NO it is too much trailer

You need to stay under 14K GVWR 5th wheels


I have basically the same truck....except mine is a 2007 3500

Yes I am over trucks GVWR
Yes I am over the 'payload' capacity
BUT I am at RAWR, UNDER Rear Tire MAX Load Ratings and UNDER GCVWR

Axle, tires and GCVWR are ratings that really matter

Payloads are based on GVWR and GVWR is a 'warranty/vehicle registration' issue
In reality I can register my 10,100 GVWR Truck for 12,000# should I chose to do so and pay the higher registration fees

I towed a 32.5' AVION with a 1998 RAM/Cummins 4x4 2500 with 20,500# combined weight with ZERO issues using NO airbags.

By the time everything is loaded, fifth wheel hitch is installed and stuff is in the trailer, you'll be at or over your 2300# rating.

It depends on whether it is a tt or fifth wheel. Also, is the 12,250 dry or wet? With a tt you should be fine but fifth wheel pin weight would push the payload capacity of your truck.
