5th wheel hitch

I am purchasing a 2014 Elkridge Express E22. GVWR 9900, Dry Wt 7205, Hitch Wt 1340. Length 25'10"...I have a 2009 GMC 2500HD crew cab with the 6' bed...What would be the best hitch to put in...All answers appreciated

If you have an extended kingpin box you don't need a slider.

The B&W is top quality, and you don't need a bed saver. US Made! Not many others are.

Make sure you check the height adjustment on the hitches. Some are fairly high to begin with. I have a similar size 5'er and with the hitch head at 14 1/2" to 18". I need the hitch set at 14-1/2" for the 5'er to be close to level. I would like to jump up to a B&W Patriot 16K but the min hgt is 16". My 5'er would be 1-1/2" to 2" high in the front. Just something to look into. Your truck may sit lower than mine so it may be no biggie. Of course you may be able to raise the pin to help.

With a new Heartland (Elkridge) trailer you do not need a sliding hitch unless you have a lot of tight places to back into. Most of the people on the Heartland club site have ditched their slider.

First thing you need to ask yourself is; do you plan to remove the hitch and use the truck other than a tow vehicle? The B&W system is very good and leaves the bed clean for other uses but you pay for that convenience. I have a Curt 20K and have been very happy with. I added a Bedsaver soon after for extra insurance.

Just be sure you get a slider, there are lots of options. I have had a PullRite supeglide for 8 years and love it.

I am partial to the B&W turnover with a Companion 5th wheel. I like the idea of having a clean bed floor when not towing, ability to tow a GN trailer if needed, smooth pulling and the adjustability. There are many, many good 5th hitches on the market and everybody has their preferences depending upon personal needs.
