Atwood Landing Jacks Problem -2000 Mobil Scout

We have Atwood Jacks, electric. When extending the jacks with the RV loaded, it sometimes makes a "Clicking " noise and fails to continue lifting the RV. Sometimes stopping & restarting will get it going again. Sometimes I use the crank & get it past a certain point.
I had a Mobil Tech check it on the road, but did not have time to wait for parts. He indicated it needed new bushings, which I see kits for sale. Their are also upgraded gear kits from Atwood.
Has anyone else had this problem?
If so, is this something a shade tree guy can do?
Thanks for nay help!!!

Mine got to dragging a couple of years ago and I took the caps off the top of the legs and packed some fresh grease around the top gears and that did good. It looked like it would be a pita to take it all apart so I will wait til I really have to. It looked like it might be tough to get the legs out after they welded the metal pan at the bottom of the front storage area. Not a terribly hard job but time consuming. Craig
