I have done it for years. Everything from a really light 12' aluminum fishing boat, a tandem utility trailer hauling quads, a 16' Lund fishing boat, a 21' Crownline sterndrive (5500 pounds), but reached my limit with my current boat, a 23' Malibu 23LSV (6500 pounds).
Never used a rear view camera. Would be nice, but I don't think it is vital.
I will say the more tongue weight you have, the worse the ride in your truck is going to be. I still have my 16' Lund, and pull it without thinking twice.
