Camping with a 5th Wheel in Yellowstone Park

Does anyone have experience with camp site availability in Yellowstone Park? According to the Park web site it doesn't appear that they can accommodate anything of size. I have a 35 foot 5'er and my truck is 20 feet. We have camped in Yellowstone in small rigs before and I swear I remember seeing a lot of larger 5th wheels parked in the camp grounds.

I spend a good portion of the summer in the West Yellowstone area every year, and IMO there are too many good alternatives to camp outside the park, then to be crammed into those RV parks in Yellowstone Park. They are old campgrounds that don't accommodate larger Rv's very well.


There are several RV campgrounds in the West Yellowstone area that gives great access to day trips in the park.

Just the idea of towing a large fifth wheel thru the park would be enough to persuade me to stay outside the park. Ya, you can tow thru there, but the traffic is sometimes backed up, and can be stop ,and go. Not a great towing experience.

If you do chose to try ,and camp in there, I would be getting reservations pretty quick. I do believe they fill up pretty quick.

We go twice a year spring and fall pulling a 32 ft 5th wheel with crew cab ram 3500 with 8ft bed. And can find spot both Madison and Mammoth. Mammoth no problem fitting , but it is first come first serve . Madison you can make reservation 40 but they hard come by unless you book early we have made reservation For mid size and made it work, back in site work best for this as you can back up all way until your tires hit the park block.

We stayed in Fishing Bridge with a 35ft 5th wheel and a extended cab Chevy. It would have been very tight with a crew cab long bed.

I stayed in Yellowstone two years ago. The only campground that has large enough spaces is Fishing Bridge. It is in about the center of the park. My 5ver is 35 feet and my truck was a longbed crew cab dually. Go to the website and use their online reservation system. It asks for lengths of rv's.

Madison has sites big enough for your trailer.

If not there, then West Yellowstone or Gardnier.
