Can we use apartment size washer/dryer in RV

As long as they fit? Or do we need to use the ones sold in RV catalogs/stores? We are looking at stackable Pinnacle units but are worried about finding someone to do repairs on this brand. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Thanks everyone so much for your posts. I appreciate your taking the time to share your knowledge with me. I'm going to visit Sears, Lowes, and Home Depot today to see if they have anything in stock I can look at. Also going to call a couple of local appliance repairmen to see what they have to say.

To Tiredmom 57: The dealership that we bought our RV from is a Route 66 dealership and Pinnacle w/d can be found in their catalog. As I mentioned I am concerned about service with this brand, but I wasn't sure if these appliances were designed especially for RV's like some TV's and microwaves are making them more desirable.

A 240VAC dryer will work fine in an RV - IF you have 50 amp service and have the dryer plug wired to the power distribution center (breaker panel) for 240VAC. Depending on the generator selected (if applicable), you may or may not be able to use the dryer when on generator power.

The 240VAC dryer will typically dry more quickly than the 120VAC dryer used in most RVs. If your usage profile (primarily using 50 amp shore power) allows it, you might want to talk to your RV manufacturer about supplying a 240VAC dryer if ordering a new 5th wheel.

We have the apartment size W/D 120/240V. We have a Cummins/Onan Commercial 6500 LP Gen to power the dryer along with the rest of the RV.

The W/D both work excellent! Wife is VERY happy.

Also check the width of the appliance, it needs to be 24", some apt one are 27". Also, measure your door opening to make sure you can get in inside.

Where have you found this brand to buy? We are in the process of buying something also. Have thought about the washer/dryer combo but then are rethinking that.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.
