Going from a short bed with a Pullrite Super Glide to a long bed where we don't require a slide hitch. Does anyone have any comments regarding the Curt Hitch, good , bad or otherwise? Any first hadn experience will be appreciated.

Thanks!

The downside to it is it is heavy as he!! and it is quite difficult to remove from the truck. I have to take it out in 3 pieces (head, slider rails, and picture frame adapter) because it is too heavy to remove as one. I actually leave it in the truck now because it is too much of a hassle to remove.

Overall it is pretty good but the only reason I have it is because I had it thrown in on the deal on my truck. If I was purchasing a hitch I would likely go with the B&W 3600.

I have the "Ram" Curt as well and love it. But I use a winch to get it in and out! I really need to be a little further back in the bed though so I'll sell mine in the spring. I'll either try an Anderson or the Curt slider.

I am looking for a new hitch as well. I'm currently considering the Curt Q24 and the Reese Elite.

I have read posts on this forum that some of the Curt hitches can be a bit finicky to connect and disconnect, but once used to the process it's not an issue. Suggest you do a search to gain more info.

Just wait a bit and I'm sure you'll be hearing from the B&W crowd, which from what I have seen is an excellent choice. If they only made a 25K to drop in a Ford with 5th wheel prep ๐Ÿ˜ž

Blame Ford for the stupid puck design, which is about 12" less fore/aft than the Ram and GM designs.

Reese make a 25k hitch to drop into the Ford fifth wheel prep kit.... Not sure why B&W won't rate their hitch accordingly. Seems to be a build/design issue with B&W and not with the fifth wheel prep package.

Anyway, not sure it really matters, that 25k hitch from Reese is a great product. I love the single hook jaw design... And it is a BEEFY hitch.

As to the puck layout itself... The Ford/Reese system is a proven design so it really seems to be moot. I haven't read of any failures or other problems with the Elite system. Other than its pretty pricey...lol. Which may or may not be a problem. Lol

Thanks!

Well Ford for 2017 should spread out the pucks in the bed a bit, so you wish should be for a new truck first. Hopefully they will take note of RAM's great puck setup!

On edit: The video of the new 2017 Ford still shows the puck in the bed much closer front to back vs the RAM pucks.

We have a Curt Q20 hitch. We've used to pull our Montana 5th wheel with no complaints.

My Dad has a Q20 Curt slider fifth wheel...

It is a SOLID hitch!

The hitch head and the jaw design is great. He has never had a problem with it and is very satisfied.

Thanks!

I had a Curt hitch and had no problems with it. I upgraded to a heavier hitch.

I have a Curt E16. I have only towed about 2k miles with it, but so far I'm pleased with the hitch. Simple, solid design and a great value. Curt seems to be more prevalent in the South. Hopefully someone with more experience can jump in and add to this.

The shop where I bought my Patriot sold Curts as well. He said "I wish everyone would just buy a Patriot!"

I am sure pleased with mine.
