Since there does not currently seem to be a Jayco owners forum, Moderator Frank has graciously allowed this thread. It will be for discussing Jayco related questions and comments. Anything not Jayco related will be deleted. Sounds more than fair to me. Thank-you Frank!

SyN,

Might start here at RV SURPLUS ...otherwise might want to contact Jayco customer service and maybe they could point you in the right direction

loydt,

They are both slow but the sofa/fridge/stove is definitely slower I assume to all the weight on that side...

Anybody else notice that the slide with the fridge/couch is much slower than the other one when coming in? Mine is like this even when running on shore power and I have two batteries?

My family and I are just getting started in Rving. Kids are old enough to enjoy it. We just bought our first 5th wheel. A bit old and on the ruff side, but I'm in the middle of replacing alot of internal items, as well as taking out all the carpet and replacing with what I have no idea yet? What I would like to ask all the other jayco owners----> Is there a place online where a fella can order replacement parts for the jaycos? I live 150 miles from our nearest dealer. What I mainly need is body work. Doors and panels. Fender Flares. If anyone can steer me in the the right direction, I would be greatfull.

Thanks Lonnie

I have a 2005 jayco designer legacy. I`m still in love with it. I did go to the rv show this year and love the new RTLS you guys got. Sad to hear they haven`t fixed the valance problems. I have been in search for the hold down bracket on the bottom for the large blind.
Frank, please keep this topic going. I would like to see a link for Jayco owners like myself to go to.

No, there is a vent that runs underneath the the 5er. It is a much larger line. The extra line comes off of the "filter box" or whatever that box is?

Thanks again guys for all the valuable info! Will come in handy on pick up day (about 2 weeks from now). Loydt: That extra fuel line wouldn't be a vent for the tank would it??

It was just as loud in my '05 Designer, too. At some point I plan to look into getting it quiet.

BTW, I did manage to get my generator installed this weekend. It was surprisingly easy considered I had no help. I had it sitting on the back of a small trailer that I use to haul my 4 wheeler arond. I took the rear gate off and used the 4 wheeler to back it right under the pin and up to the front compartment. I then lowered the 5er down until they were level and then just slid the 300 plus pound sucker in the hole. A trip to Lowes for some 1 1/4" EMT conduit and fittings and the exhaust was all complete. Fired it up yesterday and it powers the entire 5er just fine. Looks like it came installed. One question I did have is why there is an extra fuel line coming off the fuel tank?

It's a little noisy in both. It's under my hallway. I was wondering the same thing as you. Is that just kinda par for the course with pumps in general or just what is used in our 5ers.

This weekend was the first time I used it other than sanitation.

Anyone else think the water pump is a tad loud when running?

You can hardly hear it when in the kitchen but stand in the bathroom and bedroom and it seems to be quite loud...

When you are bringing the slides in, make sure the carpet goes under the sofa foot. It can "bunch up" if you are not careful.

For those of you that will be picking up your unit soon here are some things I found:

Make sure your valves to the dump tanks are closed before you start using, make sure the drain plug to the water heater is tight, and check your sprayer on the kitchen sink (ours was cracked but don't ask how we found out), make sure your valances are tight (that's from Dave), careful when you go up or down a driveway as the back end of the unit is low (landing gear), the Lazy Boy/dinetter table goes out first then the sofa slide goes out, sofa slide comes in first then the Lazy Boy/dinette table slide, the outside flap that looks like an outlet for the central vac system is not an outlet but is actually the exhaust for the central vac, there is a sliding drawer in the base of the couch along with two cushions that come up and reveal more storage, unplugging the 50A cord from the unit is hard so be patient, careful when you use the awning as it does not react to water or wind so probably best to roll up if you will be gone for a while (while at your campsite), and if I think of any more I will post

First and Foremost: Thank you, Moderator, for allowing this thread to continue.

2nd: Janice and I are home safe from our trip to Arizona. I will post a summary of our experiences in an appropriate section of the forum.

3rd: I've an item concerning the woodwork on the 35RLTS that developed during the latter part of our travels that may be of interest to new 35RLTS owners. Apparently the feet of the couch and the single table leg do not like the dry dessert air. One foot on the couch has developed a crack and two cracks have appeared in the table leg. I suspect that it is just a reaction to the change in humidity for which there is no simple solution but I will be seeking action from Jayco.

Finally a caution about the power cord to the rear jack motor!!! I noticed just prior to leaving Mesa that there was about a 2 foot loop of power cord hanging down from the bottom of the trailer almost to the ground, a gentle tug produced another foot or so. Not a good situation because the loop would have snagged the first obstacle on the ground. I could see no way to secure the cord up in the trailer so I wrapped it around the motor a few times until there was no excess slack and taped it to the motor. Needless to say I will be having a chat with our dealer about a more permanent fix and I suggest that owners inspect the situation in their units.

WHPORWIL...I had the same thing happen on my Curtis DVD player. Go to the menu on the remote of the Dvd player and set it up. I can not remember exactly how without going out to the 5th wheel, but you will find it.

Our salesman showed us the extra storage in the dinette chairs during our first walk through. I thought it was pretty cool, too.

To ewagner: I just purchased our 08 White Chevy 3500 HD D/A Dually too. Absolutely love it! Let me know what you end up doing with the design. It crossed my mind, too.
