Since there does not currently seem to be a Jayco owners forum, Moderator Frank has graciously allowed this thread. It will be for discussing Jayco related questions and comments. Anything not Jayco related will be deleted. Sounds more than fair to me. Thank-you Frank!

I am new to this forum and will soon be purchasing a new 35RLTS. My TV is a 2006 GMC 2500HD duramax. It is a crew cab with the short box. I have been thinking all along in my thought process that I would need a slider hitch, but I was told today by a Jayco dealer that they have extended the pin box on this unit and the slider was no longer necessary or recommended.

Any thoughts from the bank of experts here?

Thank you.

The hydrolic lifts are not strong enough to lift our current mattress. Even when the slide is all the way in, the side closest to the bathroom drops a little -- thus, the brace.

On the 09 Designers they made the dresser at the end of the bed shallower so they do not need the lift up cam on the bed any more.
On the 08 and previous it is the lenght of the bed, the width of the coach and the depth of the dresser, they just ran out of room so Jayco put a cam under to bed to lift it up.
If you look at the 09 the depth of the dresser at the end of the bed has been decreased, so no cam.

Yeah, because the length did not really change, only the width. As a matter of fact, the standard 60x80 queen is an inch or two longer.

Even after both of you put a new queen size bed on it still has to be lifted to fit when the slide is closed?

Not sure why anybody has to brace the bed up while moving? It is locked in place like that pretty good! IIRC, there are two aluminum braces that hold it up, locked into place.

While moving, we've been wedging the bottom edge of the bed up with a 2x4 for a while now and it handles just fine.

We have a standard king size sleep number bed at home and decided to take it with us on one of our trips to Oregon. it worked out well and the lift handled it just fine. The ones made for RV's are a little smaller and lighter then the one we have.

I DID have to make the platform a little wider ... and take out the rounded corners at the foot of the platform.

While it was nice having the sleep number bed, we find we are very comfortable in the one that came with the trailer !! Just added an egg crate foam topper we picked up at a fabric shop for $35 and we sleep great !!

We loved our bed too. The problem is that it is wearing out. The sides where we sleep are collapsing in for lack of a better way of explaining it. We have around 100 nights in it so far, but are living in it now until we move back to Tenn. Looking at the Sleep number, but they don't know there is an economic turndown right now, and have not lowered thier price.

Ok, got the new queen size mattress in, trimmed the platform, etc. It is nice but that new spring mattress weighs a TON compared to the cheapie that was on there. I now have to remember to lift the bed by hand before bringing in the slide. Motor is not strong enough to lift and slide at same time.

m go blue,

Glad you had a good outing. I find that the floor remains cold and the chair by the table by the door is the coldest place to sit. We're considering getting skirting as $$ allows.

Yes the floor did remain a bit cooler but the unit definitely held the heat great...thought about skirting but the only practical skirting right now for us would be if it was able to snapped into place around the outside bottom for us (i.e. easy on/easy off) as we travel we only tend too be in places about 2-3 days...then again your talking skirting for around the bottom and around the overhang in front and yes that will take $$$

CHV_FRK, I would check out the shackles while lifting suspension. Have saw where they can get elongated and then you have troubles. I hope to put a wet bolt kit on mine, which makes it where you can grease them. I saw where on the new Legacy, that is a standard, along with a bunch of other cool stuff.

Did a little work over the weekend. Got to clean awning, bad mildew. I also wired up the rear camera. I also stocked up the trailer.

Today after work, you know, while it was snowing!!!, I air pressure tested the water lines. I had blown the water lines out last season, but while letting out the pressure it seems I had a little more water left than I thought. I think I'll just do the antifreeze next year.

Also with the new dually and new hitch it seems my clearance to the bed rails is less so I dropped the pin. Now to try to get the suspension raised before we leave Saturday. Has anyone done this themselves with the MorRyde? Is there anything I should be looking for or lubing while I have it apart?
