As long as the truck and trailer are "reasonably level" and fits in the sight, you don't have to unhook. I just pull in and then drop the front jacks down just enough to take a little weight off the hitch.

We have a Big Foot leveling system on our trailer. The Lippert system may operate different.
Our system has auto functions as well as manual operation that allows moving any individual jack or any pairs of jacks. Outside of hooking and unhooking the trailer I don't operate the system with the truck hooked up as there can be too much movement possibly damaging the hitch and/or pinbox. The system is FAST so if you have jacks on the ground and push a control to raise/lower something it happens quick. We always unhook the truck from the trailer, even for overnite stops, to level the trailer for comfort and to provide stability for the slides. The system makes hooking and unhooking very easy and only takes a few minutes to do either.
Also, when unhooking, make sure you pull your truck out from under the RV enough for the bed rails to clear the overhang in the front of the trailer. As mentioned, when you tell it to auto-level the front of the RV will likely come down and could hit your truck bed rails, especially if your site is on an upward slope from rear to front.

There should be a manual mode so you can firm up and level some and put the slides out while still hooked up... I do it all the time while prepping to leave out in the street and CGs that are fairly level. No issues..

Other brands may vary, but my Schwintek slideouts wants you to stabilize before operating them. I'm sure glad I don't have auto levelers.

Prior to operation:

Actuate the leveling or stabilizing systems to ensure coach will not move during operation of slide-out system.

For a quick overnight, in a reasonably level pull thru site I would not use the levellers. Just stay hitched up and ready to go in the morning...

We often just lower the landing gear just enough to firm up the front of the RV,but don't use the level up. That is if we're just staying over night. (Without unhitching).

I don't have auto level, but I would just unhook, pull forward, level, rather than risk damage.

The big advantage to a FW, is how easy they connect/disconnect.

I believe the answer is yes.

Most all systems explained to me say the system drops the nose area of the fiver during the leveling process.

So one would have to unhitch.

However, if you are close to level while hooked up, just stay hooked up and forget the auto level system for an over night stay.

ASSuming, of course, that the space is long enough so that the truck's not sticking out into the cross-drive. ๐Ÿ™‚
