When towing my fifth wheel the arm on my awning seems to open a couple of inches.
I am looking to either tighten or attatch a pin in the arm any suggestions

I had the same issue. I wrapped Velcro straps around both arms to prevent any transit concerns and removed them when we used the awning. Worked for us.

What make & model do you have?

I had an issue with a Dometric, took it apart and found that it had a magnetic lock. The lock was on all the time except when energized to extend or retract. Test all connections for 12v DC and that they are clean as it needs plenty of Amps to unlock.

Just a suggestion. Until you get this problem corrected, put a heavy duty tie wrap around that awning arm while in transit. Otherwise, the wind may catch that awning and unfurl it while you're traveling down the road.
