Finished installing Kodiak 6K disc brakes

Well it took me a while due to rain, but its done, and I really like the way it stops now, and I also have 6k Timken races, and bearings, instead of the China ones that came with it.
The only downside is the 1 to 2 second delay, but I'll get used to that. Thanks for all the advice to switch to disc brakes.

"Apologies to the OP for diverting this thread to a slightly different issue."

Threads wander that's the way it is!

I don't know how your Ford controller works but I think you will be disappointed and some $$$ less in your wallet with the P-3.

If I were to try something different this would be the one I would choose!

Brake controller activates trailer brakes in proportion to deceleration. Plug-and-play design automatically syncs to your vehicle's computer network for precise braking. Low speed brake adjustment. No directional mounting required.

Features:
Brake controller activates trailer brakes in proportion to your tow vehicle's speed, deceleration, and braking action
Automatically adjusts braking based on real-time data provided by your tow vehicle's computer network
Activates immediately - no pausing like with time-delayed brake controllers
Activates faster than accelerometer based brake controllers
Automatic leveling ability - module can be mounted in any orientation without affecting operation
20 Braking levels let you adjust initial braking power and aggressiveness
Large color display acts as a diagnostic tool for your towable brake system
User-friendly, 1-7/8" color display is easy to read
Diagnostics include trailer connection, tow vehicle battery voltage, OBD-II network connection, brake controller ground and power connections, brake switch voltage, blue wire power output, engine RPM, low-speed brake adjustment, and transmission temperature (Ford & GM vehicles using VPW/PWM network protocols)
Spring-loaded manual override lever allows you to manually apply 0-100% of your trailer's brakes
Easy plug-and-play installation
Automatically configures to your tow vehicle and trailer brake system
No drilling required
Application: trailers with up to 4 axles (8 brake assemblies)
Designed for use with electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes
Limited 2-year warranty

Apologies to the OP for diverting this thread to a slightly different issue. Yes, I am still using the built-in Ford controller. It supplies very proportional voltage to the amount of brake pedal push, and works reasonably well. My only reason for considering a Prodigy is the ability to increase the initial voltage disproportionately higher than the amount of pedal push to get the actuator pump running on light braking, and get the initial delay done with. If my 2012 truck had the controller aggressiveness setting that later Ford trucks had, I would likely have no need to make the change.

If I still had my Max Brake I wouldn’t need disc brakes.

If you are still using the 2012 Ford brake controller it is nearly as good as the MaxBrake mentioned above and the Prodigy would be a significant downgrade.

Prodigy is in my opinion marginal. I have read DirectLink? Works by detecting line pressures and are very proportional.

Best controller I compare all others to is MAX Brake. It ties into brake line for truly proportional braking with ZERO delay. Bummer they don’t make them any longer.

Slight delay in disk brake actuation seems to be extremely common and accepted by many as just the way it works. I also believe that the turn on voltage of the actuator may also affect the sensation of delay. In my case upon light braking the engine brake works well enough that I don't have to push the pedal very hard which in turn doesn't send enough voltage back to turn on the actuator. Then, if the rig is not slowing enough and I push harder, I experience a slight delay as the actuator pump finally turns on and builds pressure. The Titan actuator I am using now has a distinctly lower turn on voltage than the Dexter that I started with. Had a thread on this back on 7/16/19: https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29930221/srt/pa/pging/1/page/1 Eventually, I plan on installing a Prodigy to see if I can set it to turn on as soon as I touch the brake petal, keeping it on through the entire braking process.

I still have a slight delay and bleed several times...properly. I only have a slight delay when braking hard. you may not notice this under normal braking.

I also, did the Timken bearings...good move.

I have a big Hydrastar actuator on my MobileSuites and my boat trailer. No delay.

I still say re bleed lines! Keep an eye on the fluid level in actuator. It’s easy to run low when bleeding.

Now another thing is having brake controller that’s designed and set to electric over hydraulic.

There is a Very slight delay due to the pump kicking in, noticeable when braking hard. It's like ba-bam, a fraction of a second. I had mine done by Performance Trailer Braking, and the installer said that's how it is.

Should be no delay. I advise re bleeding your lines!

I've never noticed a delay with mine. It may be that I just haven't noticed or could it be that you have air in your system?
