Furnace power question

Fall is just around the corner, as is deer season, so I have a dumb question. Can I run my furnace on 12v and propane or does it require at least 110v? I have a generator but I'm curious if I need to leave it running while I'm away from the camper. Also, are you guys sleeping in your rigs with the generator running all night? I understand the safety concerns, just wondering what others are doing.

Yes it can. But if I were going to reroute mine, I would route it up to roof level. There are kits for this.

I will look into this, thanks!

My concern with this particular generator is that the exhaust comes out right between the slides on the driver side. Can the exhaust be re-routed under the length of the unit to come out back by/under the ramp?
If this is just to run the furnace, it's like swatting a fly with a bazooka. The furnace motor is only 100 watts.

Exactly why I asked. Thanks!

8.3 amps for my furnace. Battery capacity may be lower during winter temperatures. It all comes down to duty cycle.

I have three small portable electric heaters to supplement the furnace. Of course, that requires running the generator. In temps in the 20's, I used a tank of propane per week just using the furnace. Using the heaters, I used one tank in two weeks. Using the electric heaters requires shore power or the generator.

My generator is well sealed. I have slept many nights with the generator running. Just make sure your CO detector is working - even if you are just using your furnace. I have run my generator both for ac and to recharge the battery in cold weather.

Add a fan based electric heater and it will save on propane use.

I will have access to 110v to keep the battery charged, just don't wanna use the gen if I don't need to use it.

I have an electric fireplace, that'll help if it gets as warm as the one in my last 5er.

To charge batteries for nighttime furnace use, yes.

Our furnace fan uses 6.7 amps while on. Just a helpful number to figure things out for us.
