I think a rear cap just makes the rear end better to look at. LOL

I prefer the fiberglass rear cap simply for the elimination of another area that may delam.
Mine doesn't have it and it's always of a little concern. I have a large rear window, 3 clearances lights, 2 taillights to make sure are always caulked. Yes I would need to check a FG cap as well but having a slight leak won't be causing delam.
And IMO FG caps just look more upscale.

I feel it only matters to who might have a non rear cap and because of this I don't care what they have. Not important.

I think the campers without the plastic rear caps look cleaner IMO including the seams around the sides and the roof.

It would be so difficult owning one and always having walk around the front of the trailer vs the rear sometimes because you can not stand the look of the flat rear.

This company has ALWAYS been behind the eight ball in standard equipment compared to other brands in their price range why they cannot put a rear cap on the Solitude is beyond me it is not that big a deal BUT they took forever to 4 step entry ways central vacs ceiling fans etc...... they are not bad RV's but come on GD step it up a little will ya???

I specifically asked the GD Rep at a show about the rear cap. He stated that the money they save on the rear cap is put into higher grade equipment installed on the unit .?.?

why dump the westlakes? I thought they were a good brand?

We took delivery of our custom ordered 2018 Solitude 375RES this past September. We used it ever weekend thru early November with no problems. We changed out the Westlake tires, changed out the TCL living room tv, and have two LED (center "on" button) lights fail.

This is number five fifth wheel for us, and we are very happy with the build quality and fit and finish. We also wish there was a rear cap, and a larger main awning. The 375RES floor plan is a rear elevated living room offered by many manufacturers, but none has the underneath storage of the 375RES or the amazing kitchen area.

Check out the Grand Design owners forum on Facebook. Yes GD uses Lippert and there is better quality components out there but they are more expensive. If GD installed them people would complain they cost to much you can't make everyone happy. From what I've read Lippert stands behind the problems for the most part. GD customer service is outstanding! You have to remember these things are rolling earth quakes going down the road. We toured the factory and I was impressed with what I saw.
