Jayco Designer Slide Out Problem

I have a 2009 Jayco Designer 34RLQS. Yesterday and today, when I stopped for the day, the large slide behind the entry door was out about an 1"-1 1/2" at the bottom, the top was still tight. This is the first time I have experienced this. I have had the trailer since it was new. Any idea what may have caused this? Think there is any danger of the slide coming out further? Any suggested repair?
If it moves but shouldn't, use Duct Tape. If it doesn't move but should, use WD40.

Had the same thing happen with our 2008 Designer. As others have mentioned, it was a failed brake on the motor for that slide. Also as noted in a prior post, I had to replace the entire motor assembly as the brake, attached to the motor, is not sold as a separate unit. Cost is somewhere north of $600 as I recall, but it did the trick. I never did seriously consider slide braces due to the PITA factor, as well as a concern as to what it might do to the wood trim inside the coach. In any case, I wouldn't hold off doing the repair as it will likely only get worse.

Hello I also have a 2009 Jayco Designer 5th wheel 35 RLTS and the front door slide does exactly the same thing. I found the bolts all loose on the motor/gearbox tightened everything up but it still does the drifting out when moving. I was told by a tech that I should replace the motor/gearbox but have not done this yet. They say their is a clutch in the motor that could be bad.

I had been dealing with this on my 2008 Eagle. Used slide out bars for a year or so on the inside of the slide, but that became an annoyance.

The electric slide brake on the slide out motor goes out as mentioned. After taking it to the dealer and their discussion with Jayco, unfortunately you have to replace the entire slide motor because the manufacturer of the motor doesn't carry the brake separate. The cost of the slide motor was about $580 plus labor to replace. Not cheap, but I was tired of dealing with the issue and had it replaced. Hope that helps.

Explaining what "slide out bars" are - might be beneficial to the OP..:h

I understand, and agree they would be a pain.

I have seen this happen a few times and the answer is usually the "brake" that holds the slide is weak. (Usually have to replace the solenoid). It is unsafe to drive with a bad slide brake so I would get it fixed ASAP 🙂

My slide had been creeping out over the last 3 years. I had the rams replaced, a new valve, nothing seemed to work. Lippert sent out a technician while we were in Arizona over the winter. He came to the conclusion that I had air in the system and said to put a quart of anti stiction fluid in the hydraulic tank. 1100 miles towing home and it didn't move at all. I haven't been out since, but sure hope that is all it was.
You didn't say whether you had hydraulic or electric slides. Obviously this won't help you if you have electric slides

Thanks, but the slides on my Jayco are electric. Should have put that in my original post.
