Leave it in?

I'm curious... I've got a Ram with the Puck System and the Demco Hijacker slider and have never taken it out of the bed in the year and a half I've had it (never had a reason to so far), so I'm wondering: How many leave their hitch in the bed and how many take it out? Does it matter? I have a fiberglass tonneau cover so it stays clean and dry.

Mine has been in since I received my truck in 2015. Hitch looks a bit different after 3+ years of getting baked by the sun.

Installed in Spring at the start of the season, out in the Fall at the end of the season. I also have a tonneau cover. My hitch has a small footprint so I have 14" between the the hitch and wheel wells. I can haul a lot of lumber with the hitch in place. Some of the puck mounted hitches only give 3-4" to the wheel wells which necessitates it being removed for many truck bed uses. Many times I lay plywood on top of the hitch for hauling, works great. I have gravel, bark, and topsoil delivered.

Now it hangs from 5vr king pin until next camping trip

Has never come out in 3+yrs and is covered except when towing.

I take my Andersen hitch out anytime I want, no big deal :B Big reason I am pretty much done with those big heavy slider hitches.

I only take our B&W Companion hitch out when I need a clean bed to haul something. That happens every couple years, so it will stay in the truck for at least a couple years at a time. Of course the truck usually has a complete cover on it when not in use.

I take mine out in the fall when we’re done with the camper, and then put it back in the truck in the spring. It comes out sometimes during towing season when I need the bed space for something.

We leave ours in. The hitch version we have, TrailerSaver BD3, is designed to be removed easily. The first year we did, but haven't since. We cover it with a custom hitch cover.
