Then we won't try to.

Not that I am a Lippert cheerleader, but has anyone seen a documented, with a link, Lippert frame failure in the last five years??

I have. 2013.

Did you read the whole link? Here's a quote from it.

I'd be surprised if new units did not see this issue. Why would OR change Lippert frames when only a few are experiencing frame flex? Some are within warranties and others are having to pay outside of warranty. This issue surfaced about 2010 and I had it on my 2013 unit. OR knew about this issue in 2010 yet a 2013 unit had this issue. Their not going to spend extra money when only a small percentage are claiming warranties on it.

Email are coming back and nobody says theirs are stock/standard frames from Lippert. Cambered this or spec'd for each model length ( as if ur 38 ft 5v'er frame is order at 37 ft and company stretches it some how)

Seems no one used a stock lippert frame!

Are these problems only in fifth wheels?

No. As an example there was a thread on the Open Range forum about some owners of the Journeyer JT 340 FLR that were seeing frame cracks. Mostly early 2011 or so models. Other brand TT's have reported frame issues as well. My last trailer had Lippert axles that were junk. For the most part Lippert has remedied what ever issues were causing them to have frame problems. The last few years have been slow as far as Lippert frame issues are concerned. Biggest issue with Lippert is that they're a huge company that makes or owns other companies that make a broad array of products for RV's. So percentage wise their name is going to pop up more when things go bad. But why are things going bad? Because they just don't make high quality products.

That's not a frame issue. You have to actually read the thread.

If you are a "new guy" and looking at a unit over five years old, or older then, no, not beating a dead horse. It could be valuable information for someone in such a buying position.

To say all Lippert frames are bad then and now is most defiantly beating the dead horse....again.

So I guess it depends on your perspective.

Bottom line is, it's still a Lippert frame.

O.K. we can see your mind is made up, so we won't try to change it with facts.

You wouldn't be able too. I have an in house welded frame. Doesn't mean my next trailer won't have a Lippert frame, but all things being equal I'll take the non Lippert framed trailer 1st. My last trailer had a Lippert frame as well as Lippert axles. I've seen the junk they can put together. It's impossible (almost) to not have a trailer without a Lippert product or Lippert subsidiary in it. Just trying to cut down on future issues.

I think most of the problems with the Lippert frames are the sloppy welds. If the manufacturers would inspect the frames supplied to them and reject all with bad welding then you would see an improvement in Lippert's construction.

Lessee, I was saying the same thing, what, 5 years ago...at least? Even if the factory sees bad welds, they should FIX THEM before building an RV on that frame. Deduct the costs from their Lippert bill. If they wanted to be nice, the mfr could reference the s/n of the particular frames with issue so that Lippert could trace back to the welders who did the work. 'Course those guys were probably gone after a few months anyway...

I agree with both of you but the majority of folks look at the top side for bling and could care less UNTIL they have a problem.

Dog folks I agree with you most of the time but not on this one. Even with the high end spec frames they still use the same incompetent welders. I own a Forest River and Keystone products. While I have not had a failure I have seen how they are put together. I don't think they bring in (special welders) just because it is a spec frame.

You look at the frame and welds on a New Horizon or Excel (no longer in production) and they have/had quality welds.

While I like DRV I wish they would build frames in house.

My opinion only.
