If I switch tire brands I don't know if a 1 inch larger tire will fit in my wheel wells.
Does anyone know why the Goodyear G614 tires have a smaller diameter than every other tire brand? Even the Goodyear Endurance 235/85R16 has a diameter of 31.7 inches. (I have no intention of dropping to an E range tire - the Endurance is just an example).
Thanks for any input.

Seems odd coming from those owning a made in Mexico truck.

What country did those materials in the G614 come from.
Try to find a fully made American vehicle. At least it was assembled in Kentucky.
And GY will provide a better warranty on the tires.

I tried to get them a few years ago and was quoted over $400CDN per tire = $2500 + installation.

Thanks for the replies. I think the size is right - GoodYear has been publishing the same diameter for at last 8 years. Doesn't mean it's right though.
The Sailun 235/80-16 is an option I am considering.
Curious have the GY's given you any problems?
If not then I guess it's down to $$$ and either US or Chinese Made.
I have not had any problems with the GYs. I live in Canada and the prices are very different here. The GYs will cost me just over $2,100 Canadian dollars. I don't have a firm price for the Sailuns but they are around $1,500 Canadian dollars. That's an expensive insurance policy especially when GY does not put it in writing that they will cover any trailer damage. If it isn't in writing then there is no insurance!

Personally I'd rather spend the money to travel.
Simple tire Sailun $202 ea and GY $292.
I have plenty of money so I am more than happy to spend the difference.:B
Also keeping my fellow Americans working.

If I feel the product is good enough, I wouldn't buy a warranty, or extended warranty, but I might if I felt the quality of the product might necessitate some kind of backup protection.fj12ryder wrote:

The extra cost for the GY simply boils down to an "insurance policy", since GY is willing, in many cases, to pay for damages caused by a blowout.
Lyle
Anyway, that's how I view the extra cost of Goodyear when the "insurance" references arise.
