MorRyde IS is finally happening

Dropped it off at the Elkhart factory today. Go back on Thursday to pick it up. Also getting disc brakes, pass through slide, and cord reel.

I ain't right, taking a brand new trailer and having suspension replaced before even the 1st trip. Once we committed to purchase the trailer, the next call was to have IS installed. I scheduled the installation in mid January, and the soonest date available, 11/17!!! They are now booking into 2023!

Agree that disk brakes take a little getting used to. In my experience there are two issues: The first problem is that all disc brake actuators have some delay while they build pressure. Secondly, I have found that the braking response isn’t linear. As said above, they work great (for me) on hard breaking or high speed braking. It’s the light, slow, braking that drove me crazy. Depending on the controller and/or actuator a light push on the brake petal may not send out enough voltage to even start up the actuator--thus no trailer braking. While Hydrastar is supposed to be one of the quickest, my biggest concern was a low startup voltage. I found with BrakeRite (now owned by Dexter) to have good, low, startup voltage. Not sure what MORRyde is currently using for an actuator—they used to use BrakeRite. One solution if using a 2015 or later Ford is to set up the brake “Aggressiveness” to Med or High. Since my older Ford doesn’t offer this setting, the only other option that I found was to install a Prodigy P3 set to Boost level B3. At that boost, a light touch on the petal gets the BrakeRite pumping with slight slowing. Once pumping it is very responsive to more aggressive deceleration. As with any controller it is important to set gain at a point where the wheels do not lock up. The B3 setting will show you right quick if you have too much gain. Full discussion of my experience: Google for my thread "Disappointed in Disc Brakes." https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/29930221.cfm

I don't have the receipt in front of me, but 7k axle with disk brakes, a 2'x5' slide and a couple of smaller pieces, was about 8,500. They are scheduling over a year out right now.
.
Electric over hydraulic disk brakes takes a little getting used to. I used to drag the trailer brakes to gently slow down the rigs, can't do that with this set up. HOWEVER, when you need to stop RIGHT NOW, the rig stops RIGHT NOW.

If you are happy with your RV and plan to keep it the IS WITH disk brakes is WELL WORTH IT!!!!!!!

I don't plan on ever having a regularly sprung trailer ever again. MC Kendon Trailer has the Dexter Torflex and I dumped the junk springs and drums on my Boat Trailer for the Marine Version with EOH actuator.

JUst to clarify disc brakes installed are a $3,000 or so item and IS appears to be a $3,500.00 item. $6,500.00 total which quite and expenditure but I imagine it worth it in the long run if you travel frequently far and wide.
Personally disc brakes are a must have and IS is also a great upgrade if you use your RV frequently

I believe that the 7K IS system is now running AROUND $6500.00 ? I am sure someone who just purchased can correct me.

the cost of NO MORE WORRIES -$ PRICELESS

MY OPINION is that it is worth every penny on a RV that will be around, if your planning on getting rid of it in a couple years, probably not...
$6500 I think that to much can somebody confirm the price ?

Sounds pretty steep. I got a quote from them about a year and a half ago, something like $3600. They also did rally specials knocking a few hundred off.
But I guess those days are over...
JK

Are these price quotes with or without disc brakes?
Is $6,500 with disc brakes and $3,600 without disc brakes?

That IS the 8K IS AND Kodiak Disc Brake system... I believe the IS alone is in the ballpark of $3500 - $4000 ???

WOW, you musta said sum reel bad chitz.

Yea, I don't think I did ???? perhaps a mod being a bit grumpy ??? I don't remember

Nope, not a grumpy mod at all. I took out a quote that was entirely unnecessary and only made the page longer. I did not touch anything you typed.

Very frequently, when you see that "edited" comment, it was because the person was replying to a comment immediately above his post and therefore no "quote" is needed. It just makes the page longer and we have to see the same thing again.
In the case of multiple quotes as in this post of mine, they are there and necessary for context because of a new page and it is somewhat farther down the thread. That is not the case when you are replying to someone immediately above you.

Don't know about now but when we had them installed in 1998 we had 33/8 drum brakes on 3 axle with no issues. Don't believe disc were in picture.

I highly doubt they even offer the IS with drum brakes.

If you want the correct price, call MORryde and ask, will be correct vs someone like me trying to remember how much I paid over 6 years ago.
Remember, last I heard they were starting to schedule out into 2023 and todays price may be different than 2023's price.
