Does anyone have experience with this model? How does it hold up in hot(100+)/cold(teens) temps? Any particular issues or problems?

And how much should we expect to pay for it? They are asking $17,000 for it.

As always, thanks for your help in advance!!

Jane, I was pleasantly surprised at the Rvalue in our Palomino Columbus. R11 walls, R34 roof and R38 floors. Seemed pretty decent when I compared them to other mfg/models. I personally don't know what is considered "4 season" but there is information out there and the above numbers seem to be on the high end of 'normal'....

If I were looking for a fifth wheel to live in year round in an area with hot summers and cold winters I would look for something with better R-values, two A/Cโ€™s, and double pane windows.

I know a lot of dealers pushed the Wildcat as a 4 season trailer because it has enclosed heated holding tanks but it is not 4 season. Most mid-priced fifth wheels regardless of what manufacturer produced them are not 4 season trailers.

Even trailers that are listed as four season units are not going to do well when the outside temperature is 105. As a rule of thumb, you can figure that you will be able to cool the unit to about 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. Ceiling fans, table fans, keeping blinds closed, adding insulated curtains, etc. will all help make it more comfortable. But you will not be able to cool any of them like you can a stick and brick.

You have one A/C and it looks like it is a 15k that would have been ordered as an option. The 13.5 was standard equipment.

My 2008 had R-14 for ceiling and floor and R-10 sidewalls. The Wildcat is NOT a 4 season fifth wheel.

If you are camping in 105 degree temperatures and in direct sunlight the trailer will get very warm.

Then, it doesn't sound like we could live in it for a year...

Would love some feedback on this list. Does it look like a decent coach?

A couple of things on the list are confusing to me...

1. I was told that there was 1 A/C but this list has 2 on it...13.5K and 15K.
2. It mentions night shades but not day. All the ones that I have seen have the day/night shades...

Big concern again...is that there is no mention of 4 season, Artic, or polar package, so I am wondering if it is insulated well enough to endure the heat of 105+ degrees that it can get around here. Don't know what the R-values are...

VIN decoding

I think that site must be for automobiles only, because I typed in the VIN and it said that it was incorrect. I double checked.

I believe what he intended was to scroll down a little further on that page. The 10th character on ALL VIN's is the model year. If you scroll down on the page you will see what each individual letter/number represents in that 10th position.

This applies to every vehicle/trailer/motorbike/rv that has been built for quite a few years.

Ah...! Now I see!!! I thought that I was supposed to do what I did! Duh!!! :S

Thank you!! Now, I am fully armed!! ; )

Actually, there is some discrepancy. They listed it as a 2011 model. There is no such model under 2011. I called FR and gave them the VIN# and they said tat it was a 2010. I called dealer back and they said that they have the title in front of them, listing it as a 2011. He said that some models don't get registered in time.... What gives?

the VIN has the correct model year. Look at the VIN and if the 10th digit is an "A" then the model year 2010. If that digit is a "B" then it is a 2011.

By the way, before my current fifth wheel I owned a 2008 Wildcat RKBS and loved it.

It's a B!! How did you know that? Even the girl at FR told me that it's a 2010!

Were you able to stay cool in summer and warm in winter? This is my big concern. Can you tell me some specifics about it that you loved?

I do not have any experience with this model, but the NADA Guide shows a 2010 Wildcat 28RKBS with a low retail of $15600 and a high of $18800.
