Hi, I have no power in my 5th wheel. It is a 91 Alpenlight. It is plugged in, and the converter is humming, but nothing. Also batteries are good and doesn't run on batteries? Any ideas? Only thing I have done is check the fuses and they are all in good shape. I'm thinking maybe the inverter/ converter maybe bad or is there a master fuse somewhere that I haven't found? Thanks Harry

on my trailer i had a 30 amp 12vdc resettable circuit breaker mounted on the frame just after the battery disconnect that the converter was still getting 12 volts to the one pole of the breaker that wasn't resetting. It was a $4.00 fix from O'Reilly autoparts..

Batteries or no batteries should NOT affect the 110 volt system. There's more going on here than a perhaps defective converter.
If the converter is humming you have 110 volts in there. If it's not getting to any other outlets start looking for tripped GFIs. Is the display on your microwave lit?

You say the batteries are good? Then there is a disconnect somewhere between them and the fuse box. The 12 volt side of the house should work whether the unit is plugged into 110 volts or not if the batteries are OK.

Check where your power comes from the tow vehicle via your umbilical cord, where it splits off and runs to the batteries there are two or three heat sink connectors there that maybe tripped. Just simply push them back into their holders and you should hear a click sound if they need to be reset. This may resolve your issue, and I speak from experience this past long weekend.

It does sound like the converter is defective. The hum is probably from the converter input transformer receiving 120VAC. Start checking for 12-14VDC on the overhead lights, if it shows 0 volts, the converter is dead. Good luck.
