Hello campers! We have been looking get out of our big bunkhouse model and get into a rear living 5th wheel. So far we have really fell in love with the Jayco 327 ckts. Our problem, we really don't like the table and chairs, we really like the party sofa which is only available in the bunkhouse models.
Can anyone recommend a rear living 5th wheel with an island kitchen and no table and chairs?
Thanks in advance!

If you do fall in love with a certain piece of furniture that won't fit through the door, measure your biggest window. If all else fails you could remove a window to get the large piece of furniture in that way. Definitely not ideal for taking it in and out, but if the intention in to leave it in the trailer, its a decent last resort way to get it inside.

I was going to change out the mattress in my TC once but I couldn't figure out a way to remove it.

First, you measure, measure, and measure again. Second, the back come off the couch. Third, the arms on the couch are filled with foam and can compress.

The couch was just a bit longer than the door was tall, but turned on end, the top of the couch went in the door first. I was on the inside and 2 men on the outside lifting it straight up. Once the top cleared completely, they lifted the bottom (ceiling had plenty of room). Once inside the door, it was standing on end. I had to turn it on end, then because of the configureation of our camper, I could simply walk it down in position.

After it was inside, I had plenty of room to move it around with the slides out. I eventually flipped it upside down. I drilled 6 holes in the frame and put castors through them. Flipped it back over, put the backs back on and .... whola!

We looked for quite a while for the right couch. We actually bought at Value City Furniture near Indianapolis.

We got rid of the two rocker recliners that came with the 5er as well as the loveseat hideabed. Replaced with a euro recliner for me and a 3cu freezer in the loveseat spot and where the two recliners were a new comfy one for DW and a coffee table with adjustable top for her to do her puzzles on.

Forgot to add that I took the Dinette and the sofa out of my seasonal and put in a futon and recliner. I don't like RV furniture and put in better quality/comfort furniture.

Our Outback (Travel Trailer) came with free standing furniture. It originally came with 2 rocker, 1 love-seat size hide a bed, 1 stand alone table, and 4 kitchen table chairs.

We ended up removing the 2 rocker chairs, the kitchen table and the 4 chairs. We left the hide-a-bed love seat size sofa and we replaced a house-hold (real) sofa instead of the kitchen table, chairs, and rockers. We never used the kitchen table, except for collecting junk and a dumping place for everything. It was always a mess, and wasted space.

In your consideration of a rear living room 5er, you might consider looking for one with the same type of "stand alone" furniture. Then after you purchase the camper, replace with what you really want. This way, you no dinettes to remove, or anything to tear apart. Just simply removed the existing furniture and get what you really want.

Of course, you also have to make sure it will fit in the door, which was our biggest challenge when looking for that couch.

We loved the couch so much in the camper, a couple years later we purchased the same identical one for our house.

Original furniture:

We moved the original furniture around a little, and eventually took out two of the kitchen chairs. We turned the table and I re-anchored it to the floor to allow better passage when the slides were "in".

Slides "in"...

In spite of all our ability to move the original furniture around, we were still not pleased with it. We replaced with this... been VERY VERY happy ever since:

I ended up putting wheels under the sofa so it could be turned facing the rear window (and the television). On wheels, it's very easy to just swing around when the slides are out. We have a full 180 degree view facing the back of the camper with our opposing slides rear living room Outback. We absolutely love this configuration now. I suppose that's why we stay in the camper, in the driveway at home, almost 100% of the time too, when we have a perfectly good house! We just love this arrangement!

Here's the one we bought for the house. We also bought the matching rocker-recliner. I built that ramp so our dachshund can easily get up on the sofa. My grandson has a lot of fun running up
and down it too.

I guess, where I'm going with this is, if you find a model you like, you can always swap out the furniture, if it's all free standing, it's very easy to do.

What became of our old furniture? The two rockers went to Good will. My 30 year old son broke one of the kitchen chairs. 2 kitchen chairs are in storage at home. The table is currently in our kitchen in the house, used as a stand for my wife's KUREG coffee maker and all the coffee paraphernalia.
