Will be installing Reese Airborne pin box on our 5th and was wondering how to measure to keep the ride height the same as it is with the fixed pin box. I know that I can mount it and measure but is there some trick that I can't seem to think of to not have to move it numerous times.

Any other tips for setting it up and using the Airborne would be welcomed. I gather that air pressure in the bag is trial to see what works best.

In answering craig7h I ran an airline with quick disconnects from the truck to the pin box. The piping on the Airborne from the factory is made to inflate with an air chuck. I took out that cheap plastic airline and piped it with brass fittings from the bottom of the airbag, installed a tee with a "0 to 100" lb pressure gauge with an other tee with a valve to bleed off air if over filled. On the truck end I installed in a convenient location a spring loaded rocker switch "on off on" next to the switch I installed a digital pressure gauge. Make sure it is easily visible and within easy reach. The compressor on the Freightliner is built in so I tapped into one of the air tanks ran a line to the back and installed two solenoid valves. The first valve is on the main line from the tank. Then I installed a three inch space nipple between the tee fitting and first valve. The second valve is piped into the side of the tee as a bleed off valve. Next comes another space nipple with a tee. On this tee install the digital pressure sensor for the gauge in the truck. Then from the sensor a short piece of pipe to an air hose that is long enough to reach the other quick disconnect. Make sure the air hose from truck to pin box is long enough for the turning radius of the pin box. On the Ford I had to install air compressor and tank to accomplish this. All solenoid valves, rocker switch, digital gauge and pressure sensor were purchased on E-Bay, the plumbing at local hardware store. When running the wires pull a couple of spares for in case of who knows what. I ran #14 gauge wire. Good luck "Weekend project"

The Airborne raised the front of my 5er by about an inch when aired up to the marked line. It was installed in the original position of the stock pinbox.

When I installed mine had there were not enough bolt holes to make adjustment. After install the height was close to orignal height.

Your ride is adjusted by the air in the bag. There is a line on the shock that will tell you the amount of air needed.

question for allygerry; how did you hook air to the bag from your truck?

The Fifth Airborne Hitch we have has a line on the drivers side of the box "fill to this line" or something like that. I installed the pin box myself and adjusted the physical height of the pin to the height of the old pin. As the fiver was level with the old pin box so why mess with the ride height if fiver is riding level, if not adjust up or down to level to the desired height. I hope this helps. I can adjust air pressure to the air bag from cab of truck and will adjust air pressure if roads sections are very rough then readjust to correct pressure when roads smooth out.
