Replacing couch ?

As you can see from my sig I bought a used 5er, the unit is mint except the couch springs are loud as yell and have seen better days. It is one of the units you lift and pull forward and it drops flat as a bed. My fresh water tank hot water tank and pump are under it.

On quick review it just seems to be some lag bolts that hold the upper and lower parts of the couch in place I was just wondering being the unit is a 97 is there a site I could get a replacement from easy that will bolt right in ?

Thanks

I have that type of couch. You could give Northwood Manf a call and see what they might sell one for. Too bad you weren't closer as I'd sell you ours. We are going to replace it with recliners. Don't need the bed function of it.

Try Dave & LJ's in Washington State if you are a West Canadian. They will be more than happy to help. They replaced and installed a couch in our old DP for someone in BC that bought it. They are very aware of the Canadian Safety Standards ( which are tough! ) and made sure it was up to code. Our DP had " stuff " under the couch also.
Good Luck.

Just noticed you siad water heater was under there too. With that venting outside for gas and such my options are going to be very limited without major mods.

I would look into a love seat hide a bed option. The one in our creek looks like there may be enough room under it to not interfer with the water tank. If not maybe go to the furnature store and look into a regular love seat. I would bet if you take the fabric off the bottom it would slide right over top of everything. Worst case you may need to modify the one board on the bottom in the back. Who cares if you mess up the fabric back there. You will never see it anyway.

The problem the OP mentioned wasn't in finding just a couch. The couch in their trailer is open underneath and covers their pump, water heater and fresh water tank. It's actually just a seat cushion and a backrest not a couch as we know it. A standard couch will not work. I had the same thing in an early 90s TT I once owned. My suggestion would be to take it to an upholstery shop and have it rebuilt and recovered. That maybe your only solution.

Ironically, we're going to go look at a used 5er today - and the woman who owns it said she replaced the original couch, by going to our local furniture store - where she found a nice jackknife couch in a complimentary color! Said it's much nicer than the original. If we end up buying it, I'll tell you who makes the couch.

Will a futon fit over the tank and pump? You would still have a bed for hunting. Might even be able to construct the frame, if yoy are handy. And then buy the pad.

Yes we use it as a bed especially during hunting season

Do you use the couch as a bed? If not what about putting in something different/better?
We opted for two recliners instead of a couch when we bought our rig.

Good luck with that. Earlier this Summer we tried replacing ours going to 5 or 6 different places in the Elkhart area before finding one that we wanted at Bontragers in White Pigeon, Mi
They removed the old one and put the new one in but they would not bolt it to the floor. They did take the brackets off the old one and gave them to us to put on.
