Replacing New Trailer King RST+ : Only Option Is Carlisle??

Rollochrome

The Trailer King RST+ tires my 5er came with are ST235/80R16 which is a F load rating.

The fact that they are factory tires makes me nervous. And the fact that they are F rated makes me nervous.

Sailuns are apparently bad now from Vietnam, at least this batch.

Only thing my Discount Tire can get in my size is a Carlisle 14 ply G rated.

Am I moving up with this swap or does Carlisle have a bad rap?

I think it's a **** shoot. Goodyear, Sailun, Hercules, close your eyes and pick one.
We just got home from on the road...NASCAR at Kansas City and a few days in the Ozarks. We were parked/camped next to a big Newmar diesel that was towing a matching "stacker" type trailer. He had a mix of Goodyear and Sailun on the 3 trailer axles. He didn't like either of them, citing unusual wear patterns. Probably a good chance it was trailer axle issues.

Sailun like other tire mfg has many different tire types...S637 is just one of them.
Even the S637 has 16"/17.5"/19.5" sizes so its important in reporting which Sailun size/load range product had a blowout.

Several years back one one member posted he had a Michelin XPS Rib blowout. However later we learned the tire was 6 years old and had 30k+ miles on it. But more importantly he ran the tire till it shredded down to the rim. No blow out ...just a run flat.
Some folks got upset about finally a XPS Rib blowout and there no different than a ST tire.

Makes a big difference when all the facts come out.

Last night I remembered I kept the original Sailun spare since it had less than 30 miles on it. I checked the sidewall and it has a date code code of 4316 and made in China. That would make it less than 4 years old when it blew.
The unknown variable is that we are the second owners, so no telling how the tires were maintained. I watch pressures pretty close and use a TST tire monitor.

You are saying you bought F rated Sailuns, I am pretty sure they are G rated @ 110 psi .

You said , I quote " Mine were built in not China ". Whats that mean were they built in China , or were they built elsewhere ??

I also have the sailun tires, they replaced,The goodyear endurance.
I have a 3 axle toy hauler 18,000 lbs
Mine were built in not China, they were built end of January 2021. They are 16"
And F rated @ at 110 lbs. I run only
90 psi as that's more than enough for my load.so far so good . Total miles so far
6,000 miles. They do ride harder than the goodyear but a much heavier tire.

It was a S637 215/75/17.5 LR H. The blowout happened in August 2020. I replaced the Sailuns in January 2021. The trailer is a 2018 Landmark built in 2017. I don't remember the tire build date or its country of origin. I do remember the tire build date was appropriate for the trailer build date.

There have been a few on the Montana Forum, and I just encountered a loss of the inner third of tread on a 2 year old Sailun made in China, tire never lost air so we had no idea it happened until several days later. Needless to say, I'll be keeping a much closer watch on the other tires.
