Reverse polarity

I have a 2 part question but the first is a statement,
I am a dummy,
I accidentally reversed the polarity on the battery today, when I went into the coach to open the circuit I heard immediately what took a few minutes to figure out 2 40 amp fuses fissile away,, after replacing them getting everything else back up and running" I think" the slide out still remains without power. I cant open it or close it its just DOA.. I have a 2007 Komfort M-27R does anyone know if there is a fuse, breaker, reset button or interrupter that I need to flip, push or change to get power back to the slide out and most importantly where it is??? I have looked in all the exposed locations? I hate to tear things apart blindly looking for something, as you can tell i do enough damage UN-intentionally.

Question 2 How strong are the Manual over rides? When I connected a 1/2 inch drive socked to bring the slide in,,IN, manually after a few loose turns I can see it begin to come in but all of the sudden it stops and gets tight,, I put reasonable torque on the ratchet enough for me to be concerned that I might break something, does it take a lot of force to manually bring it in// or will I break it if I really give it the torque???

It's kind of weird because AFTER the battery RV's like to use house wiring colors.

Black is positive, and white is ground/neutral.

BEFORE the batteries it's "automotive colors" with red being hot and black being ground.

It's easy to get confused.

Since you have it figured out now, here is a very quick, cheap and easy tip for those who remove their batteries for storage.

Wrap the cables in some if this.

Called "Convoluted Tubing". You can buy it at most auto parts stores and you can cut it as short as you like for your application. I would think the 3/8" ID to 1/2" ID would do. Do one wrap on the + side, and another wrap in the - side.

You can even get the stuff in colors to make sure you hook the cables up on the proper polarity.

One thing for sure. It'll help prevent "dropping wires" if used properly.

Thanks for the update! Easy fix just a little frustrating!
You may want to mark them better or use a cable tie to keep them together.

Although I never did find a fuse breaker or any circuit protection and the manual operation it seemed like it got to the hump where the floor lifts and slides in stopping there

I don't know if this will work but go to the positive battery cable, follow it up to where it connects to the trailer and see if there is a small box type thing at the connection. If there is, feel along the top for some very small buttons. If they are there, feel for one that is higher than the others and push it down. I was given this advice by people on another forum and it worked for me. You may not have this type of hook up but worth a look see.

What I meant is it possible that a wire did not get connected back up to the batteries.

It did blow both 40 amp fuses at the inverter when I connected in reverse wh@t else could be wrong other than a fuse or trip, it was working a few months back.

It is possible that you dropped a wire when connecting battery?

What do you mean drop a wire if I did it would be connected to the ground, there are no loose wires

Doubtful.

In my experience all of the circuit breakers for the slide SHOULD be very close to the battery on the + side.

I have never seen the circuits for
the slides go through the main power panel inside the coach.

They have always been direct off the battery with circuit protection of some sort or another.

Having said that I doubt that reversing the polarity from the battery would cause your problem. There is something else wrong.

I'm going to have to look much harder Tracing all the lines within the battery compartment reviles no fuse,, I looked in the cargo and saw a generator hook up station maybe its in there ?? I look when I get back home. by the way thanks everyone for your input, does anyone think that it could be combined with the operating switch inside the cabin??

On my 2005 KZ Durango it has a master switch and also a side out switch. The owners manual says the master switch needs to be turned off to manually open or close the slide out. You may try this and it may work

It is a requirement to have some sort of DC CABLE protection in the event the battery cable get shorted to frame ground. The batteries can produce a large amount of DC Current when this happens and could cause a fire.

In the older RVs this was always an in-line fuse very close to the battery positive terminal. The newer RVs have used an auto resetable circuit breaker in lieu of the fuse.

My original 2008 Trailer battery fuse holder looks similar to this google image...
