Are you talking about upgrade to a fan like the ones in the bathroom those small 12v ones?

The first one, those small bathroom fans don't need the higher air flow ability of the MaxAir2, but if you have one like you just pictured you want as much air flow out as you can get, the original MaxAir cover restricted airflow some.

Not wanting to tear into the roof like I did with the Fantastic Fan or the one you pictured I chose to put a VORTEX fan in the bathroom,It is a snap to do with very detailed instructions and it is multi speed and reversible.

Here is an earlier post that is really helpful.

As long as you are replacing the vent covers it is a good idea to replace the seal on the edge of the vent, they dry out and new ones will give a tight seal with the new vent cover.

If you upgrade your rattle fan you should. I replaced mine when our RV got hit by some power lines due to a drunk driver. Wish I'd swapped it out years ago. With two power vents in the RV I can really move some air without running the A/C and I can hear myself think in the bathroom, without thinking the fan is going to throw a ball bearing.

Don't screw into the roof!

There should be some metal brackets that attach to the aluminum vent portion. To be honest I'd get the brackets that have a hinge, as you will want/need to clean the cover and the vent cover. I used to have the type you posted, but I've gone to the one below MaxxAir2. As it lets more air flow if you ever install a power vent, with the one you have you're fine. But you need the metal flanges, you can see them pictured below. If you didn't get them go back and ask for them

Download the instructions page here.

Thanks. Got the brackets but now im thinking i should get the maxx air 2 .

Looks like there is a bent tab that when twisted will allow the lid to slide off.

Remove center lift at large hole. Remove hinge plate from cowling.

Oh..I see that isn't like mine.
