Screen for refrigerator duct

Our new 5er has the refrigerator in the center of the floor.(not against an external wall) There is a large rectangular opening in the floor for the ducting. We would like to install a screen to deter access to the reefer workings by critters. Does anyone know where to get the metal screen material that is used for the vent screens available for RV water heaters, RV furnace vents, etc? Thanks!
  • You say it's new, so why not go back to the dealer and ask him why do I have a hole in the floor with nothing to go into it ??? Sounds like a factory mistake to me..... just saying.

  • Don't forget to take into account.....AIRFLOW

If you screen it off make the screen removable so you can clean it frequently otherwise it will clog/restrict airflow and fridge cooling will suffer
  • The fine mesh screen used for windows in kind of fine and thus restricts airflow and clogs easily. I have seen a larger 1/8" screen that is a little bit larger. There is also a 1/4" that would be the best if you are only interested in larger critters.
  • The material for screen doors might work nicely (the metal stuff)

But I would think any home improvement or ACE should have something including the vent screens you mention.

Another thought that might fit would be the vents that are in the eaves of houses to ventilate attics while keeping critters out. Might be a perfect fit.
