Slide out entrance

While at the Tampa Show earlier this last January, I went through a Winston Fifth Wheel that had its entrance door in the slide out. I was impressed but have since found out that Peterson Industries has folded and no longer manufacturing this and other units. My question is has there been any other manufacturers that intend or are already are using this option.

My question was does anyone know of its availability. I appreciate that everyone has opinions on its viability but the model I saw intrigued me and in my experience (40 plus years of rv'ing) I personally liked the idea.

It just occurred to me: how do you use the steps when the slide is retracted? I've never paid much attention to the design since I never thought it was a very good idea. Something different, but not necessarily better, or even as good.

If I'm not mistaken, with the entrance in the slide, they make that slide longer, long enough that when it's in you have no access to the bath/bedroom area. Would be a real deal breaker for us.

This has come up a couple times before and the consensus of opinion is that it's a slightly flawed idea. Sounds better on paper than in actual execution. It may be fine out in the wide open spaces, but could be problematical when in smaller campgrounds with narrower spaces.
