Tekonsha P3 - What say all of you?

Hello--

I am looking for a brake controller for my truck in sig. The truck has never had a controller installed. I am considering the Tekonsha P3 based on various reviews around the internet and the reputation of Tekonsha. Is this controller as good or better than the others that are sold?

I will be towing the rig in my sig. Not that it will affect the controller, but I am also considering installing an Anderson Ultimate 5th wheel rail mount hitch.

BTW.....found this seller on eBay and the price can not be beat anywhere else that I have found.

Tekonsha sure is a respected after market brake controller solution. The only negative I've ever read about the P3 is you can not dim or turn off the display (this is what I've read and do not have first hand experience with the P3). Folks have complained about that but it is relative to how it is mounted whether it will bother you while night driving. I run the P2 and its small display times out and goes dark.

Been using a P2 since 2005 with 3 different trucks. Works just as good as the day I bought it.

The under hood work has been shown in pictures, so I only took a picture of inside the cab (slightly overexposed):

The white block above the controller is the mic connector for my radio.

PS thanks for the link!

A follow up to this thread - I did buy the controller from Homefor2 and got it installed! No particular problem, but I had to buy a 'T' from NAPA ($40!) and then had to wire in my plug - cut off the one that came with it and wired mine in.

I took it all apart and painted it to match my dash - pretty easy and the only thing to watch out for is that the new paint is compatible with the old paint. I took the display out as well, rather than masking it. Easy job!

I took a picture of the final install, but I have no way to post it - help anyone?

Tim

I am on my second P3 on my work truck. The up/down keys kept sticking down on the first one, now the second one is doing it too....

I have a very lightly used MaxBrake I am trying to decide what to do with.
Sell it to me? I am interested, but it needs to fit my ford 2000 F250.

Thanks!

The combination of Disk Brakes and a P-3 is fantastic. Go for it (even with drums)!
