Towing this with 3/4 ton

Looking for thoughts on how this would behave:
2013 F250 diesel crew cab (short bed 4x4)
pull rite slider

From Ford Spec sheet:
GVWR 10,000#
Max payload: 3240#
Max 5th wheel trailer weight 15,900

Looking at buying a 2005 Jayco Talon 36Z
The specs I have found from a Jayco spec sheet:
Dry weight: 10,500#
Dry pin weight: 2,495#
Gross weight 14,900#

I will verify these numbers with Jayco when I get VIN # from seller.
By the book this is "legal" combo. Pin weight may get high if fully loaded, but most of the weight would likely be behind the axles in the garage and not add much in terms of pin weight. I would think that with 2000# of gear in the trailer I would be approaching the limits of pin weight considering people and gear in the truck.

Thoughts from people that have done something similar?

I say no problem to the OP towing that with a 2500. Add some airbags and go camping!

Gotta love them air bags!!!!!!!! Put them on a station wagon with a big block and you can tow anything.

I guess that's a joke. Fact is any newer 3/4 will pull the trailer he noted safely and without problem. Not everyone needs a dually. Ride like******and crazy wide if you are using it as a daily driver. I would not hesitate for a second to pull the proposed trailer with a 3/4 diesel.

I never worry..... point out the camper and I will pull it! Always better to have too much then not enough truck.... Now I know most would not buy what I have but I was making a point here. Always have a little extra and travel is easy.

While you're so busy patting yourself on the back, how are the back seats in that little tractor?

This whole thread is ridiculous.
Everyone here knows the OP can quite safely and comfortably tow that trailer with a 3/4 ton.

I don't agree, but everyone knows that by now. 🙂

When I bought my truck I had ANTICIPATED what I might buy for an RV. A big toyhauler. I based my truck purchase on that so I wouldnt have to ever ask/worry/ponder/sort thru tons of comments pro and con about what I "can" use to tow with.

BTW, thanks Lincster...back in 06 your posts had be go buy an F350 dually tow boss (highest tow rating then). Still pulling without ever worrying. 😉

Very cool. Glad you got the right truck and are liking it!!!!!! I loved my 06. Towed great and the dually tubs looked awesome!!!! Wish I had those on my new truck. 😞

Likely not, and I am not advocating that behavior. The point is that the insurance company would still pay off the truck despite willful wildly irresponsible and negligent behavior.

I can drink a bottle of whiskey, drive my truck into a tree at 100 mph and the insurance will pay.

I read a bunch about people saying insurance won't cover if you overload a truck, but that seems like total nonsense.
Example: I can drink a bottle of whiskey, drive my truck into a tree at 100 mph and the insurance will pay. Put 500 extra lbs over gvwr and they won't pay. Does not sit right with me and sounds like internet garbage.

I am fully aware of the advantages of taller gears when accelerating, but I fail to see any real advantage on the down hill engine braking side.
