I'd like to give a huge THANK YOU to Brad, the Moderator over the Truck Campers forum for his assistance with this thread.

Thanks also to RVcrazed51 for his request for this thread.

Post photos of your Fifth Wheel on this thread. Any photo with a 5er in it is allowable; any brand, any year.

This thread is generally for Fifth Wheel photos only. But feel free to post comments on posted photos.

Because this thread is very long, I will occasionally clean it up by removing the older posts that do not have Fifth Wheel photos and other off topic material. Also, please limit photo width to 640 pixels by using: width=640. Please do not post thumbnail size photos, they are just too small to see.

Register at photobucket.com (free), download your pictures (takes a while), hi-lite and copy the URL, then use the "image" icon to paste the photo URL.

We just got a 2007 Holiday Rambler Savoy 31BHD and are just getting to take her for the maiden camping trip this week. We chose this model, because it provides a separate room and bath for our two granddaughters aged 3 and 11 who are always with us and are very avid campers.
Another reason we chose this model, was that it was the only model in this price range that had this floor plan and had acceptable bed clearance without being jacked up high in the front.

Thanks. I think we all buy these things partly for the sense of adventure. I think having one in the UK just enhances the adventure aspect somewhat!

Yes, there are many roads in the UK that aren't suitable for a rig like this. But there are many more that are. OK I can't get into the middle of some of our "olde worlde" ancient villages, but I wouldn't want to go in there with the trailer anyway. I could probably get the the truck in - it's no wider than a regular delivery van - but I'm not going to use the outfit for touring historical sites.

We do have length/width restrictions, just like you do. Ours aren't as generous, but believe me my rig will be legal. This venture is costing me a bob or two, and you'd better believe I've checked things out!

Just in case you don't believe we have real roads in England, here are a few pictures. Mods - please delete these once the point has been made!

You are right - it's going to be FUN!

I was wondering the same thing. The roads I remember there weren't really that great for that size of a rig. Congratulations. That ought to "WOW" them over there. What a great looking combo.

HELP PLEASE
I just bought a 2001 alfa gold 5th wheel that the dry weight is 13,500 lbs. I am looking for advice as to weather I should be looking at FORD F-350 ,or do I need to go by the GVWR on the truck?? If so I would need a F-550 with the GVWR at 18000 , witch is the loaded weight of the 5'er
I see a lot of photos of F-350 and Ram 3500 ,but is it because your 5'ers are lighter or am I wrong in my thinking?????????
Please help a.s.a.p, so I can make shure the truck I get is the right truck.

I would diffently be looking for a bigger TV at that weight I would probaly be looking at a meduim duty truck like Freightliner, Peterbilt, or even Volvo these trucks are designed to haul the heavier loads and you would get better mileage with the price of Fuel now a days, but don't go with Ford or Chevy (GMC) though, they have the same engine as the pickups and the weight of the truck and trailer would give very poor mileage. I used to deliver vehicles all over the US and I can tell you this from experience not only that but even a used medium duty truck is going to be alot better then a new pickup not only that but could also possibly have a GVWR of 25999 lbs which gives you plenty of lee way on your weight just go to your local truck stop and pickup one of the truck sales magizine and take a look you might find a truck ready tow for less then a new pickup not ready and the biggest reason is that these bigger trucks can be serviced at truck stops all over and even on the side of the road alot easier then a pickup

When you post your pictures add " width=640 " without the quotes and after JPG and one space like this:

JPG width=640[/img]

Otherwise I have to and it gets tiring doing so many. Thank you.

GARYMAC20002000,
The total trailer weight is not part of the GVWR for the truck. It is part of the GCWR. You need to know the trailer pin weight to figure out what truck you need. I would guess the pin will weigh in the area of 3000 pounds and for that I would suggest a F450 for starters. The only real way to be sure is to get the trailer weighed BEFORE you buy so you will know what truck you need. Have the weight done by the dealer as part of the deal when you buy. If they will not do that for you then find another dealer. For your safety, you need to now that and they should be willing to help.
