INFO ON FULLTIMING

My husband and I are going to start fulltiming in January. We live in Michigan. A little background on us, we moved to Michigan in 2012 from California. We own a home in both states and will be renting them out. Our permanent residence is now in Michigan. When we start full time RVing how do we figure out which state is our permanent state and can anyone tell us if Michigan allows a mail forwarding service address to be our address for vehicle registration?

We may not be asking the right questions, because although we have done a lot of RVing we haven't been full time. I guess there are lots of questions that need to be addressed like taxes, etc., etc. but we are hoping that this forum will be a place for us to go to get some answers to all of our questions.

Thanks in advance for you help

I have heard good things about Escapees mail service, but no personal experience of using them yet.

I would suggest that you join Escapees and check out their fulltiming forums. Lots of folks out there with personal blogs and great info.

You could own a home in as many states as you want to...you can also claim another state your state of residency even if you don't own a home there. You own a home in Mich & CA..but could call South Dakota your residency state as it hasn't persona lncome tax, no sales tax, no personal property tax...etc. The key is, as long as you never live in any of your homes more than 180 days, you could claim FLA, Texas, SD, Montana, etc as your residency state....check into it..can save you thousands every year.
