I have a coachmen catalina that I use for working on the road about 5 days a week. we are thinking about upgrading to a big 5th wheel and fulltimimg for a few years while i'm on the road chasing my retirement. My question, is it worth losing the space to have a washer and dryer in the camper?

Is your washer and Dryer useful at home? We start ours before only to sleep. All done in the morning.

We have the separate washer and dryer. And yes...It certainly is worth using the space for it. And very much worth the price too. Especially if you full-time. The biggest advantage is that without it, the time spent in a Laundromat is a couple hours a week. But when you consider all the time loading/unloading in the truck, sorting, folding, etc., it uses up much of the day. So there really isn't all that much else you can do on "laundry day."

And many CG Laundry facilities are less than nice. Few machines available. Machines that don't work well, Etc. Not to mention the cost. Usually at least $1.00/load or more. For the two of us, it generally cost about $20.00/week. Most public laundro-mats are just gross.

With the on-board W/D we can do a load each day whenever we have time. Early morning, After dinner, Mid-afternoon...whenever it is convenient to us. You can start a load and leave it til you get back. The convenience factor is worth losing the space.

Best to leave your gray tank open. So FHU's are best.

Besides if you have more space where the washer and dryer go, you would fill that space with what? Clothes...That's what. Then even more laundry to do.

We spend months in Florida in the winter. We love our combo. We wash everything except our throw rugs.
We always have full hookups.
It just came with the mh, otherwise we probably wouldn't have added one. But, so glad to have it. We can just toss a load in, come back later & and it's done.
It does take longer than in our house, and it does do smaller loads. Still totally worth it.

It's a personal decision. If you don't like to cart your laundry to the campground Laundromat, or feel like there's cooties waiting for you at any public facility, get your own washer/dryer.

Personally I've been using public facilities for 8+ yrs and haven't caught anything yet. I also like doing the laundry once every week or 10 days instead of every other day.

A very frequent topic of conversation. People tend to be polarized either for or against. My DW would get rid of me before she would get rid of her Splendide combo. She washes everything including king size sheets in it.

Search for washer dryer and you will find endless previous discussions about it.

YES!!!! YES!!!! and YES!!!! The Splendide gets used almost every other day. Other than the queen size bed spread and throw rugs everything gets washed no matter where we are parked as long as we have a drain. A few loads will fill up the gray water tank so you need to be able to dump.
