I currently have a verrrry cheap mattress under a super cushy foam topper and I love it. So I've concluded the topper is the key. What I need is a mattress to support it that is nice and light -- and non-toxic. Any suggestions? Currently in Phoenix.
Found a few other closed threads on this forum on the subject of organic/green mattresses and I have to say they hit a new low for this place for ignorance/hostility. I've been sick much of my life due to environmental toxins. It started with mercury poisoning (diagnosed) which led to a body that registers toxic burdens in a way many do not. Actually, there are noticable consequences for most people but the don't know it, don't have the experience to connect the dots. It's astounding the lengths to which people will go to defend chemical-fest of modern living. They understand that tobacco patches work but don't think twice about the dryer sheets containing a dozen or so chemicals which are known carcinogens. They sit and soak in bromine and chlorine treated pools and have no idea the degree to which those elements are blocking mineral uptake to their bones and joints, never mind the havoc they create on every other front in the body (hormones, prostate...you name it) then they wonder why their knee won't heal. Probably the same reason your nails and skin are peeling and your hair has turned to hay. I've been through all the circles of hell with these health issues so please just help if you can and move on if you can't.
Our first coach had short queen. Very hard to find bedding let alone inxpensive bedding. So when we decided to get more comfortable mattress - we just went with std. full size. More walk around room and could take advantage of sales for any bedding needs.

Yes, not cheap but the sleep number mattress offers the best support for you, and it can be adjusted to fit your needs in a moments notice. I have a bad back, & the SN bed is the best thing I've found to deal with the chronic pain. In short, I'm comfy, & wife is happy with her setting. My sleep number is a 60 & the wife is a 35.
The platform for my bed is also a strange size: 60"x79. Short queen matresses are 60x75 and reg. queen are 60x80. Guess I'll go for the reg. queen? The previous owners wanted the mattress and all my sheets were for full mattresses anyway so I just used the mattress I had which left about five inches all the way around the mattress.
