Thinking about going full time

Thinking we might make the jump to full timing in the near future. We almost do it now, only home for doctor appointments and when the trailer is in the shop. I know we have a lot to figure out still, like sell the house, mail, doctor appointments and so on. So will probably be asking questions. So, thanks in advance.

I feel your pain.
My wife is on many narcotics and other drugs due to spinal cord injury and multiple surgeries.

Thanks darsden1, I hadn't thought about having the Doctor put that in my records. I've had doctors filling in for him that didn't want to refill it so had to wait for him to return. I don't need to take it anywhere near as often as prescribed but when I need to take it I really need it. Him and the neurologist have decide I'll probably need it the rest of my life.

I was talking about meds, and the VA will ship anywhere. However if you are on any narcotics you will have to visit a VA and get them. The easiest way is to have your primary note in the record that you are on (name of drug) and (dosage) and will need a refill every (number) days. When you go to any VA they should fill it for you. You may have to visit a walk in clinic but it should get taken care of. If money is not the over riding factor for your narcotics see if the VA doctor will write a script for you to fill on your dime at a commercial pharmacy. Better yet ask him to give you 3 to 6 RX's each dated for the future so you can only refill one at a time. He may or he may not but you are in a way lucky. You are one of the people whose entire medical record is available at any VA in the USA, PR and the VI. That means when you go to your primary care where you are from he can see every visit you made on the road and other providers can keep up the continuity of care you receive from your primary. JUST MAKE SURE THE MD DOCUMENTS YOUR NEED IN THE MEDICAL RECORD.

We do it all the time including narcotics without much problem. Bigger problem to get Oxycodone in our home town than on the road (New York State)

Thanks for all the replies and encouragement. I differently want to check the clubs and websites mentioned as I need to keep a domicile here for medical reasons but will also need a way to get mail and meds.

The Escapees RV Club offers a lot of support, including mail and domicile services. Their web site has a wealth of information on full-timing, domicile, etc., and membership fees are minimal (if you're not already a member). Another very useful resource is RV-Dreams.com. The web site (run by Howard and Linda Payne) has a lot of good information on full-timing. Down-sizing and the emotional aspects are frequent topics of discussion on the RV-Dreams forums, as well. If you're already "long-timing," I agree with the poster who said you'll do well. Just have to clear the "house hurdle."

If you are almost full time now, you should find the transition easy. The big issue is downsizing, selling the house and putting stuff in storage if necessary.
