2000 Southwnd hissing noise when I apply brakes.

When I apply the brakes on my 2000 Southwind f-35 chassis, theres what sounds like a vacuum leak comming from down by the pedal! They work fine but I drove a Friends m/h just like mine and they were quite. I thought it was just a quirk to the ford brakes, but I guess not. Any ideas what would cause this noise?
Thanks Steve

If you have a ford chassis, this is normal. They have an electric (12 v) motor that provides hydraulic power to the brake system, even if the engine is not running.
