2007 HR Augusta vs 2005 Gulfstrm BT Cruiser

Hi Everyone! Not sure I posted this in the right place but hopefully....I know the BT Cruiser is a B+ but not sure about the Augusta. I'm looking for any info, pro or con, on these 2 units. The HR Augusta is on a Chevy chassis M293TS and the BT Cruiser on a Ford chassis M5290. I would appreciate hearing from anyone especially owners or previous owners of these units. Thanks to all for any info! Steve

Sorry, I should have checked. Yes, I found you on my list of members that have owned a Trail-Lite. You were number 102 in my list. You owned a 2007 with a Ford engine. Hope you had a good experience. We still love ours. 🙂


Hi Gene, I didn't know there was an R-Vision sub group. Or I might have forgotten.

We bought our used 2007 last summer and love it. WE have the R-Vision Trail Lite 29' with 3 slides. A few learning pains since it was our first ever RV. We have the Chevy - more leg room for the taller driver than the Ford. Our first Chevy, we have the 8 cyl and has plenty of power for our needs since we don't plan to tow.
Looking forward to new adventures and new friends.

I believe there is a logical explanation for these different experiences. See the end of this post for a plausible explanation.

We own a 2007 Yellowstone/BT Cruiser 5290 and are very happy with it. Bought used and now have 26000 miles on it. The Chevy is great, no problems at all. 10.1 MPG, good ride and handling, nice V8 sound,with good cab footroom, too.
The creaking noise an earlier poster mentioned above the cab is something I am now dealing with. GulfStream sent me info on four 9/16" bolts in the cab ceiling that you can access by pulling down the headliner. Tightening them has almost eliminated the noise. My next project is to drill and add another bolt in the area of the passenger ceiling. I am pretty sure that will finally do the trick!

Not sure about the Holiday Rambler Augusta B+ model 293. Another company - RVision built the Trail-Lite that had a model 293. Sometime around 2006-07 RVision was sold to Monaco who then had one of their subsidiaries HR build the Trail-Lite floor plans. I looked at an HR Sport and the construction appeared to be a twin of our Trail-Lite. There are a number of owners of the Trail-Lite that have posted on the B+ motorhomes topic. Most have been very satisfied. 😉

I believe many of the posters in RV.net would state that the Chevy chassis handles better than the Ford and fuel economy is as good if not slightly better.


I have a Ford e-450 HR B+ put on 6 thousand mile last summer, enjoyed every thing about it.Just can't find something to be upset about. Drives nice, ride is great, tight, every thing worked every time. We take it lots of state parks, alway find a place, It drives better than my Lexus on the road.I don't care about mileage any way, just pay the bill when I get home, don't even look, don't care. The wife is as happy, we had a 5h wheel and would never go back.
So big a world, so little time to see.

Thanks to all that replied with info! Didn't like either one so I am still on the prowl looking for the right trade!! And no I don't pull a toad. I did dolly for awhile but now I just rent for 3 or 4 days if I need a car!! Thanks again to all!!

Yes Gene I did like the Trail-Lite but wanted something with a regular bed so went bigger and now I am looking at going back to smaller but with 2 slides. Glad you still had me on your list!! LOL Take care and thanks!

Mine's a 2004 (purchased new) and that noise went away long ago. And we've been on some rough roads since '04. No problem... 🙂

Mich F, the Op did not say he was not going to tow a toad neither. He just asked for info. You assumed he would not be towing a toad since you do not. Many of us do tow toads! I have 30 ft BT cruiser B+ which is really a Class C. B+ is non existed advertising hype.

These past few comments a bit off topic, but i have a 29' B+ which had serious problems. After installing a Roadmaster anti-sway bar and an alignment, the problem went away.

I have a hard time believing that a 30 1/2 ft. Ford Chassis Class C does not have the tail wagging effect without an add on stabilizer. I am talking about this problem when towing a car with 4 wheels down. Maybe you do not tow a vehicle behind as I do. Without the tow vehicle in tow, I do not have this problem.

Neither you nor the OP mentioned anything about towing a car with 4 wheels down. If you had done so, I wouldn't have posted.
I haven't towed a car with this MH and would prefer not to, as long as I feel I can get by without pulling a toad.
I have towed boats with my other class C's of 22' and 24' and never needed a toad with either of them.
