Engine was running with reduced power so I changed filters it seemed to not be picking up fuel so I changed lift pump same thing if I get system primed it will run for a few minutes then die if you pull filter not on engine it is not full it acts like it wont pick up fuel from tank it has 3/4 does the supply line just go into tank or does it have some type of screen on the end can I blow air down the line.

is that a B series 5.9L with mechanical injectors ?

here is the fuel drawing for my 95 series B 5.9

on these old engines
according to the manual , I have an "inline injection pump"

and the drawing labels some little thing at the bottom of the engine as the lift pump

the inline injection pump has the fuel manifold fittings ( fuel rail ? ) on top

#3 is the lift pump

#8 is the injection pump

#10 fuel injection manifold

any way this 'injection pump' is the expensive part,
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

What is your fuel pressure?

If none or low after checking gaskets and for sucking air... then read this link, might be handy for you.

I put a ton of money into my 01 3/4 ton last month. Had to have everything done for me because the park I'm in wouldn't let me drop fuel tank. Which I don't blame them. But $$$ sure added up and shop did not do that good of job. Better off doing it yourself if you can.

I am a ship's engineer and have been a diesel guy forever (even before the license). What you are seeing is guaranteed to be an air leak in the fuel system before the lift pump. You say you changed the lift pump and some filters? Well, take it apart again and look for the poorly fit fuel line or the wrinkled gasket. If that low pressure side isn't perfect, it won't work...

I will look at the fuel drain valve on the side of filter housing on side of engine.

Possibly the rubber line collapsing when sucking fuel. Fuel pump maybe

Punctuation is very important as illustrated below:

Can't help with the engine, just the punctuation.

Yes I have been all over it today it acts like it is either sucking air or a line restriction.
