A/C Zones on Thermostat

I have three roof top units and three zones indicated on my thermostat. My forward and rear units (Zones 1 and 3) work fine. On my thermostat, when I select zone 2 there is nothing to set, it's a blank screen. I was told a couple years ago that this was because it tags off the zone 1 unit. I don't think that was a proper answer and was asking this forum if anyone has any ideas. In short, I can't operate the center unit. Thank you in advance.

dougrainer, thanks again. Zone 2 is listed, it just didn't show any functions. There has been no work done on the A/Cs. I wasn't able to get up on top but did go ahead and go through the reset procedures you provided. I did get the FF indicator. Once completed it now shows only "AGS Mode" and I can toggle on or off. I believe this to be part of the Automatic Generator Start feature which I don't need at this time. It doesn't permit me any other function options on Zone 2 however, just the AGS Mode. Zones 1 and 3 are still working fine.

Yes, AGS is a mode in the DIP switch connections and usually there is a separate dedicated AC control board for the AGS system for a Dometic. At this point you need to check the DIP switches on the Center Zone 2 control board. Make sure the Zone DIP is locked onto the ON position. Which should be since you have Zone 2 indicated. Also, there will be 2 phone type communication cables off the control board. 2 black phone wires. THEY are only about 12 inches long and then connect to the main gray cables that go to the other AC boards. Check the RG11 cable modular connections for corrosion and rust. You will probably have to pull the top Evap cover to gain access to these cable connections. Doug

I have 3 zone system as well. Zone 1 and 3 operate off of shore power and zone 2 operates off my generator. I don't know if it can be changed, never tried as 2 units cool my coach just fine. My generator will operate all ac zones if required. 2007 Gulfstream Tourmaster

This does not make sense. The ZONES are controlled by the 12 volt power supply and there is no way for the Dometic system to "know" if you are on Shore or Genset. Now, maybe your Zone 2 will only work on Genset, but the CCC display will still show all operations. Doug

It should be completely identical across the screens... Are zone 1 and 2 on the same sensors?
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

dougrainer, I thought the forum picked up my RV stats from the profile. Mine is a 2008 Holiday Rambler Scepter 42PDQ with Dometic. I believe that 1 is Forward (which is working), Zone 3 is the bedroom area (which is also working) and Zone 2 is for the bath and hallway area (which is the one not showing up on the thermostat.

I ALWAYS check profile. In your case, there is nothing on your profile that states anything. Please recheck your settings.
Now, Zone 2 is GONE? No 2 listed, or you have a Zone 2 and it shows no functions? Have you had any work done on the AC systems lately? If so, they may have neglected to set the DIP switches on Zone 2 or the other AC units. Your AC Zones are just like you listed. Have you done a reset? If not, here is the procedure. Once you have answered my questions and done the reset we can go further if this does not fix the problem. Doug

SYSTEM RESET
After setting the dip switches in the electronic control
kit, do a system reset.
1. Turn the ON/OFF switch to the "OFF" position.
2. Simultaneously depress and hold the MODE and
ZONE push-buttons while turning the ON/OFF switch
to "ON". FF should appear in LCD display until the
mode and zone push-buttons are released.
3. When a dip switch is turned on after initial configuration,
a system reset will need to be done before the
Comfort Control Center will recognize the updated
selection.

Holiday Rambler is now a part of the REV Group. Owning an American Coach who also is a part of the REV Group, I know that they provide excellent customer support. Their contact information is here: http://www.holidayrambler.com/

Give them a call and I believe they can help you sort this out.

Safe travels.

You just joined. When asking technical type questions, you MUST post Year/Brand/Model of RV. Brand of appliance and the type tstat you have. Also, IF you can get Brand/MODEL of appliance that really helps also. Both RVP(Coleman) and Dometic have multi zone single tstats. But NO, EACH roof unit will be able to be controlled. Doug

Sounds like Zone Two is simply not hooked up. Each screen should be identical. That said, I found it better to have a separate tstat for the bedroom as I don't need that unit sensing the temp from the FRONT of the coach.....Dennis
