AC and Sirius problems

I just picked up my 2013 Newmar Ventana all electric RV from the shop where some body work was done.
Problem 1- I can't get the AC to run off generator power. Works fine when plugged into 30 Amp.
Problem 2- The Sirius Radio comes on and says "Loading". I can't change channels and get nothing. Sirius says I need a factory reset. Is there something I can do other than to take it back to the dealer which is over and hour away?

Look all over the front of your radio for a small hole. This will probably be a little less than 1/8". Once you find the hole, push a toothpick in to the hole and see if that resets your radio. I know some radios have that type of a reset so I am guessing that yours might also. Others require you to hold two buttons down and then enter your password. Here is also a link that may work on your set. Reset instructions

Glad we could help with the Generator..

One thing about Onan Generator Breakers.. .. they like to turn themselves off so if you find one of them tripped.. it does NOT necessary mean you have a problem. Just reset it.. If it trips again within a minute or two, THEN suspect you MIGHT have a problem... If it trips soon as you reset it then you DO have a problem.

On the radio, again, its RTFM,, you will have to download the manual if you do not have it, also the manual for the Sat-Radio module.

The breaker on the generator was tripped. Rest it and the generator a/c problem is solved.
On to the radio.

As for the radio, I called Sirius. They tried the signal thing and couldn't get it to work. They said factory reset, but didn't know how to do that.

I will check the generator. I don't know where the breakers are. I will see if I can find them. It is a 50 Amp vehicle, but I have it plugged into 30 Amp shore power.

The breakers should be right on your generator. You may have to remove the cover.

Check on the generator itself to see if the circuit breaker has tripped. This is outside, under the generator cover, and is a push button reset for the output of the generator.

and there may be two breakers on the genny. check.

on the radio, I think channel 1 shows the radio id number. With that ,call Sirius and speak to "Fred" somewhere in India and ask him to reset the radio.

On the radio, if you do not have the owner's manual download it from the manufacturer's web site,, NOTE< the Sirius module may have its own manual and may be hidden under the dash connected to the radio with a multi-in plug.

The "Factory reset" procedure, usually involves a multi finger button press or a paper clip in a hole type procedure.. I can not tell you what it is without finding out the precise make and model and downloading the manuals.. So I'll let you do that.

The air conditioners.. Do you have one or two? If two the answer is easy, If one it may well be the same

on the Generator are, usually TWO circuit breakers.. on a 30 amp RV ONE will be for the air conditioner (This is for a Class A, a Trailer with portable generator this does not apply)

Check the breakers on the genny.

In addition there is some fancy stuff done by the Auto Transfer Switch and finally, IF you have an energy management system (The load shedding kind) it can have issues, there may also be a switch somewhere that needs to be adjusted. (Front/Rear/Both switch)

Does anyone know where the radio fuse is?

If the radio has power and shows loading then the radio fuse is good. On Newmar's the Radio fuse was usually at the Shore Cord compartment next to the 12 volt disconnect solenoid. The APU goes thru the Transfer switch. You either have the APU breaker OFF or the transfer switch is bad. On some APU's you MUST turn the breaker OFF, then ON again to reset it. DO THAT and then report back. Doug

Dr. Bob have you called Sirrus/Xm? They reset mine with a signal from them.

The generator powers the refrigerator and charges the batteries, so I don't think its an issue at the generator.

I believe that you have an diesel generator that may have a DOUBLE pole output breaker. One half of the breaker can trip and power will still be available on the other half. I am guessing that your AC is on one half and the rest of your appliances are on the other half.

Given that the A/C works off shore power this would lead me to believe you might have a high resistance contact problem in the Transfer Switch.

As for the Sirrus, the "Loading" message on mine indicates it is attempting to load or access the CD/DVD. Maybe there's a bad CD that it's trying to access? In Sirrus mode you'd normally see errors like "No Signal" or "Antenna Connection Problem".
