Annual maintenance

I have been changing the oil and fuel filters for the engine and generator once a year. Our mh gets about 2000 miles per year and other than camping, it stays in a climate controlled shop. Recently, I have had several people tell me that my maintenance schedule is too frequent. I plan on maintaining it since I do the maintenance myself. I was just wondering when other do their maintenance? Also, do you change antifreeze based on time, mileage or analysis?

I never exceed the mileage intervals but i do exceed the time. I try to change oil and filters every two years but sometimes as long as 3.5 years. Manual says it should be annual or 15,000 miles....i go maybe 7,000 miles...

I disagree. Do you have any evidence showing OEMs are only concerned with the minimum for warranties?

I follow the guidelines of the chassis and generator recommended schedule which is a mileage or time event trigger, which ever happens first.

Keep in mind the guidelines are what the OEM has determined to be the minimum necessary to ensure the product operates thru the warranty period. There is always a minor risk anytime you do any maintenance (strip or cross thread a fastener, break a wire,,,) but generally the only problem with perform maintenance more often is the increased cost over time for consumables.

sounds good to me. I do take mine out when weather is dry and do a twenty mile trip ,just to keep things lubed. gen set gets ran then under a small load.also keeps tranny lubed.

I applaud your proactive approach to maintenance but I would guess it's overzealous and a waste of money. I would follow the manufacturers schedule.

Just ask yourself "has your maintenance schedule been successful?" Have you ever broken down on the road because of the lack of maintenance? If it ain't broke, why change? Your time and your money.

It doesn't hurt to change early,it does hurt to change late.

I suggest following the chassis makerโ€™s guidelines.
