B+ motorhomes

I just bought a Trail Lite B+ 211s with 8.1 Chevy
engine. This is my fifth motorhome (others range
from an old 20' Vagabond, and three Winnegagos, from 19 to 32'. This vehicle is fantastic. I am
using it as a mobile office (and sneaking in a fun
journey from time to time). It gets about 9.5mpg
and I believe I could pull a bus behind it if I wanted! I paid low $40's which is about what I had expected to pay for a five or six year old Chinook with a nicer interior, but fewer features
(slide). I am delighted thus far.

BirdbyBird, I have done a very similar conversion of the TV cabinet like Burl. I will post detailed pix after I take some pix of what I think is going to be our completed living area!!!:B We just have to finish the sofa base. Cushions, bed extensions and carpeting is complete.

I was going to link you here convert to cabover, but I see it is your thread!

I have no feel for the bed convert, but as you imply, and according to Cheeze1's low trade quote, resale implications may be less important these days. I think a LOT of folks will be remodeling instead of reselling for a good while...plus it's fun!

I am reposting my TV conversion pics as they may give a better sense of space available.

30"x23" door

12" deep at top, 24: deep at bottom and still maybe 8" empty space behind that.

Mid shelf removed

The space for a bed should be ample by camparison with many overcab beds found in camper vans like the old Falcons and Great West conversions, as well as the pickup conversion Tiger CX.

Any pics of your dinette-dog kennel mod?

I am in the process of talking husband into accepting that my taking the couch out and building support for a bunk bed or smaller would still provide a comfy TV watching platform and definitely open up the floor space (and a floor wide enough to sleep on if needed!). Thanks for the pics to encourage me. Am driving a 22ft BT Gulfstream with no slide. Have already taken the dinette out to put in dog crates and open up the isle. Still have one dinette bench to remove...but I will have to build a small box to cover the heater and the heat duct. Now, about the small area over the cab. It looks to be about 30 inches deep if it were opened up. Many of you seem to have taken out the TVs and replaced with lighter flat screens positioned other places. Have any of you removed ALL the cabinetry and replaced with a small sleeping perch?

My need to personalize the space drives DH crazy, and he worries about resale value (isn't that funny!)...but since the "castle" is mine....I really want what works best for me and the dogs and things I carry....

I have seen some small sleeping perches on some Class C's that have been placed in front of the entertainment stuff. Any of you have experience with a do-over using the smaller area of the B+'s

When TMBLSN first posted, his signature appeared at the bottom of that post that quoted your pics.

Here is his web link http://rv.tmblsn.com/ where he offers a view of his rig and all sorts of modification projects that can give anyone w/ an RV some DIY inspiration.

I like what you're doing. Keep the pics coming. BTW, you don't have to post your pics as a link, they are fine as an image with Width set at 600.

But if you favor the links approach, remember that in the link icon window where you paste in the link address, there is a title text box where you can make the link appear as a description instead of an http//...

Ok, I don't know who you are talking to/about Burl, but those are my pix. We are on the home stretch. The rug you will see, after using the old one for a pattern weighed twice as much.:h
As for the B+ arguement, I spent too much energy on that one. :R

The B+ is probably what I'll be going with, in a few years, when the kids are gone. I'm casually keeping my eye on the sector so that I know what's-what when the time comes.

An RV's an RV, for the most part; I'm sure that we can both learn something from each other.

Thanks for showing your work. Some big projects...really personalizes a rig. I am jealous of all the room in that rig.

When the recession ends and RV mfgrs start up again, maybe you should consider some freelancing jobs!

By the way, in keeping with the customs of some forums, I feel it incumbent to point out to you that, whether you know it or not, your RV is not a B+! LOL

Chas, lookin' good. You should do what Gene recommends and what I did...when displaying the pic directly to the forum, as you're doing, when the image icon window comes up, in addition to pasting your photobucket direct link URL, type in a width of 600. Otherwise, that big pic causes readers to have to keep sliding the screen side-to-side when reading text.

FWIW, another way to present pics and give them a title. Copy the direct link URL from photobucket, and insert it into your message using the 'link' icon of your toolbar (my magnifyer says it is like a blue world globe and a chain link??)

Burl. The trailer is stored in Fla at the RV park we stay at. They move it on and off our site for us. We do drive the Trail Lite to Fla towing our car. Only reason for that is when we leave Fla we go to Myrtle Beach during spring break and meet our kids and grandkids there for a week and then come on home together.
