Battery Compartment

I just got two new batteries, and I want to make maintenance as hassle free as possible. They're stored under the stairs, and you have to removed two screws access the batteries. I know it's not really THAT hard, but still...

Anyone done any mods to make it easier? Maybe some kind of latch or something? Something I wont' stub my toes on...

A hint here. If you decide to go with Velcro, don't use the cheap stuff. Use what's called "Dual Lock". There are not two different sides, as in normal Velcro. Most, if not all, Velcro has a soft fuzzy side and, a plastic side. But, the Scotch lock has TWO plastic sides. When they lock, THEY LOCK! But, you can still lift on the cover and they'll separate. And, that kind will NEVER wear out, like normal Velcro will.

Winner!

Can't believe I didn't think if this. I use Velcro all the time. ๐Ÿ™‚

My Coachmen uses a draw latch that is very similar to one of these for the battery cover/entrance step. Other sorts of draw latches would probably be just as effective, and many are pretty low-profile.

Too late now but maintenance free AGM's would have solved the problem. As well as not having acid splash around to corrode things.

Wow! 2 screws. You're as lazy as me. ๐Ÿ™‚

I've never done it but, how about small powerful magnets? You can buy them on Ebay.
Epoxy will hold them in place.

Maybe someone will have a better idea.
