Getting ready to change out all the Filters on my ISL 400 and Onan Generator,

Checking to see if Filter Barn is still the Go To Place?

Amazon sent me a post with reduced pricing and Filter Barn was 10-40% less.

So I'm checking with the Experts.

Where do YOU get the Best Deal???????????

Speedco is the way to go They service my ISl400 for $2oo. I can't do it much cheaper and it's done in less than an hour and no mess to clean up.

Buy one from Ebay. They have OEM ones for dirt cheap. If you don't mind aftermarket they'll even have cheaper ones. ๐Ÿ™‚
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

LF 9009 $32 delivered on EBay or off brand for $22 .
Primary fuel filter $20.75 delivered... NAPA gold. Sometimes my local NAPA will have filters half price which gets them down to EBay prices.

If a filter is sealed in plastic I do not worry about its age.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

Eddie: What a crock of you know what. Fleetguard are one of the best filters in the marketplace. I would place them at the top. They told you that story as they cannot get the FG filters at a wholesale price. When it comes to fuel filters for a Cummins there is nothing better than an OEM Cummins Fleetguard. 3 years ago I was unable to source one of my fuel filters from Filter Barn. I went to a Donaldson dealer in Tucson. I installed the filter and drove 300 miles. Kept getting a check engine light. Naรฏve me never considered it could be the filter. Engine was derating. Went to a Freightliner dealer. Mechanic checked everything. Replaced that Donaldson with a Cummins filter. problem solved. It was sucking air. Tech gave me a big lecture about Donaldson fuel filters. I was still a doubter. 2 days ago I changed my oil and fuel filters. This time I substituted a Baldwin for the Cummins filter. Could not get the engine primed. Removed that filter and it was only 3/4 full. Dug into my filter stock and found a Cummins filter. Again problem was solved. Could this be a coincidence. I suppose but I will never use anything other than a Cummins filter!!!

About 6 weeks ago I was having trouble pulling up Fleetguard filters on their website. I called and was told that they were not carrying the Fleetguard line any more because of quality concerns. I googled the subject but didn't find anything.

There was a filter expert that used to post on IRV2. He worked for Cat and Cummins for years. Now retired. He wasn't an engineer but knew more than the engineers. He stated that filters do have a shelf life. BTW : also stated that you should never undo the hoses to your air filter on a DP to see if the filter is dirty. This exposes a lot of dirt to the clean side of the filter. I used to use Filter barn but lately they do not have a full selection of Fleetguard. Some of the FG prices were no better than Amazon. What a shame. I think there sources for overstock filters has dried up.

Prices are good but the best is the date of manufacture code. I have seen different filters come off vehicles and they are falling apart inside the shell. Some had date codes and other no. The date codes ones where all over 3 years and a lot over 5 years. Look like the glue fail, but not an expert on this.

I still haven't found any place better than Filter Barn.

The family farm started buying from them a few years back as well. For the number of filters they use they're saving thousands.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.
