This is an update to an older post regarding my installation of Brazel's Ultrapower Tune. Originally I installed this tune on my 2001 Itasca Suncruiser with(Ford F53 V10) and could not determine any difference in performance as compared to the Ford stock programming.
I have been working with Brazel's on this problem for quite a while.
Recently had a water injestation problem that caused me to decide to change the Mass Airflow Sensor in the air intake. After changing the mass airflow sensor, I reloaded the Ford stock program.
Ford Stock test drive:
Test drove the motor home on our interstate 'loop' (approx 16 miles). During the 16 mile loop with Ford Stock program, cruise set to 60 mph, the motorhome had to downshift 6 times total. Made the trip a second time with cruise set at 60 mph, had to downshift on the same overpasses again 6 times.
Then I loaded the Brazel's Ultratune that was recently emailed to me by Jon Brazel.
Ultratune test drive:
Test drove the motor home on our interstate 'loop' (approx 16 miles). During the 16 mile loop with the Ultratune program, cruise set to 60 mph, the motorhome did not have to downshift one time. Made the test trip a second time with cruise set at 60 mph, no downshifts.
I have not had this loaded long enough to determine if there would be any mileage per gallon improvement, but the shifting improvement is MUCH better.
I am not sure if the new file that was emailed to me impacted the performance this time, or the replacement of the mass airflow sensor had an impact on the ability of the ultrapower tune to take full affect. This is why I re-tested with the Ford stock program after the mass airflow sensor replacement, and re-loaded the Ultratune to re-test it's performance.
