Broken Thetford toilet - replace part or entire toilet?

We have a standard Thetford toilet in our nexus 28p. The ball valve flap does not open or close when the foot pedal is depressed. It is not stuck in any way. It is out of warranty.

My question is should we just replace the parts needed or just replace the entire toilet? Entire toilet is about $175 and can be bought any time online or in store. Parts would need to be ordered and take time, but would avoid having to dismantle plumbing.

Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

After spending a lot replacing the pedal and ball it starting leaking all over again - For about $150 plus labor to install it I got a Dometic 310 put in

I like it because with multiple water outlets around the rim it cleans the sides better

In addition it is designed to leave more water in the bowl - this reduces buildup on the bowl and reduces odors

Are parts available from any RV dealer? Many parts can be ordered over night on a special order. My other question would be if some toilets are more popular so parts are available without ordering or is there another brand that is better quality? Maybe others have had experience with issue. I have a Thetford myself so also interested.
