CAT 3126 No Start

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have not started my coach with Cat 3126 for about six months. Went to get it ready for the summer today, but the engine won't start. Batteries are good, starter turns it easily, but no firing at all.

Tank is full of fuel. I tried the manual primer pump, and it feels like the fuel system is fully primed. I drained the fuel/water separator (no water visible, only good-looking fuel). After that, I got about a stroke and a half on the manual primer pump. Really feels like there's plenty of fuel in the system to that point, but it's not getting to the injectors. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

BTW, the generator started quickly and ran flawlessly.

Did you check for codes?
Do you see black smoke when you try to start?
Disconnect the IAP sensor, if it starts it will be in limp mode (max 1700RPM)

Have some one crank the engine as you crack each injector line at the injector, when you see fuel emitting from the injector line tighten it and move to the next, it will start firing 1 cylinder at a time, when you have enough cylinders firing it will run without the starter's help, continuing bleeding each injector.

Is that sort of looking for a natural gas leak with a match? I realize diesel fuel isn't as explosive as gas, but your method here seems a little risky to me. Not to mention can you even get to the injectors to easily do this while the engine is being cranked?

Read the post, we are talking diesel, not natural gas. Cracking the injector fittings to bleed air is done all the time. If you have a better way please let us know.

When my Bounder broken down and I was towed to a truck/rv garage in Layfette, La. They had a nice Holiday Rambler diesel pusher there they were working on. I asked what was the problem and the owner said the owner of the rv was sick for six months, couldn't start it every month and it fouled up the injectors and they were replacing them. Could that be your problem? I've ran Cat engines all my working life and NEVER had a engine's fuel system lose prime while sitting, even over the winter. The owner of the garage said it had something to do with the fuel, the sulfur being taken out of it.

Since you have the hand pump... pump it 20+ times and try again. I've been running a machine which will run out of fuel when run on a side slope. It has two tanks and when not that low on fuel it sucks air from the uphill tank. While most will say " NO WAY " I pour gas into the air cleaner, loosen 3 of the 6 injector lines at the injectors and crank it up running on the gas fumes long enough to let me turn the machine to up hill. Tighten the 3 lines and there's still enough gas fumes to crank it again and it usually runs normally as it has an electric fuel pump.
Not sure if you have a grid heater but if all else fails I'd disconnect it and put 3 oz of gas in the air intake and crank it up. Takes a while for the fumes to get through CAC air cooler. Yes I've been called shade tree and I buy starting fluid by the case but in the summer I like gas better.
